Lots of foundational stuff. I forgot how good the D.O.C was. A distinctly different flow and rhyming pattern than the typical old school rapper. This group was better than the sum of its parts RIP Eazy-E Early Dre was more influenced by funky funk beats and I miss that . More groovy/danceable stuff. From the snoop era thru the chronic 2001, the beats had some catchy hooks but it was like weed laced with heroin. Smooooooothed out. Not for me

Way ahead of its time and still ahead of our time. The feeling of that spoken word singing style… The influence this album has on modern music is probably under recognized

Pre-funk Not my favorite band. It seems like they’re constantly on the verge of making some good music but they keep coming up a little short. Sure, they have some classics and this album has the track which shall not be named.. but it’s all pretty mid. Ultimately, this is stuff that other bands picked up and carried over the finish line.

Now that I have 30 years of perspective, I can see why the hardcore fans said they sold out with this album. Also, you can clearly see the beginnings of James Hetfield, world’s hardest lounge singer.
