Blonde on Blonde: Proof that you don't need to be a good singer to be a great songwriter. Whatever you think of Dylan's singing, there's no denying that Blonde on Blonde is a classic album. It's an essential listen for any fan of music.
The Band's "The Pink Album" is a mediocre album with one pearl of a song: "The Weight." The rest of the album is a mixed bag of folk-rock and country tunes, some of which are forgettable and others that are downright bad. But "The Weight" is a masterpiece, a timeless ballad with some of the most iconic lyrics in rock and roll history. If you're a fan of The Band, then you probably already own "The Pink Album" and you'll likely enjoy it, even if it's not their best work. But if you're new to The Band, I recommend just skipping straight to "The Weight." It's worth the price of the album on its own.
