1001 Albums Summary

This is my first album of this project and didn't know Dusty Springfield by name. Found myself vibing from the first playthrough which isn't always the case for me. Really strong start with Just A Little Lovin'. Son Of A Preacher Man is a classic. The Windmills Of Your Mind is really beautiful and plays with energy in a great way.

My 2nd album of this project and it's one that I've spent a good amount of time with already. Some of the greatest songs of all time are on here and are enough to outshine any tracks that underperform.

I think I'll feel bad for giving 2 star reviews because in many cases such as this case, I don't think the music is bad at all; but it's just not for me. Monday, Monday and California Dreamin' are the highlights for me. The rest all sounds mostly like the same '60s pop-rock optimistic, inoffensive type of tune. Not bad, but doesn't feel like it's something special.

This album starts out really strong. Love the energy and the guitar-foreward style. I'm not much of a heavy rock person but there's some aspects that I like. The 2nd of the album starts to feel a bit predictable in song structure and like something a dad would listen to?

A familiar listen. This was the era that I started paying attention to Kanye. I remember watching the music video for Power on Much Music. Saw the debut of Runaway live on TV. So much nostalgia for me.

I like this genre a lot and I can tell that many bands I love are influenced by this work. My first listen didn't hit. Subsequent playthroughs were fun but I wish I liked it more. I'll keep at it though because I think this could grow on me.

For some reason it reminded me of the Barenaked Ladies? Most of the songs sounded too similar for my tastes.

I had a decent time listening to this. Normally "Dad Rock" isn't my thing but everything, except maybe some lyrics, meshed well for me.
