1001 Albums Summary

Using discordant tones to build suspense is one thing. An entire album that sounds like an elephant sitting on a keyboard is another.

This album didn’t jam quite as hard as Back to Black, but the writing really kept my attention, and the jazz vocal runs were really fun to dissect.

There’s a reason this album is as iconic as it is!

This album sort of feels like the opening soundtrack to a movie about a down-on-his-luck, but peppy and ambitious city boy. That opinion would maybe change if I understood any of the lyrics…

Wow. I’ve heard tracks from this before, but never sat down and listened to the entire show. I was blown away by how entertaining Johnny was - even through the low quality audio recording of the day, the show had me hooked the whole time.

Very punk. Very British. Very… easy to tune out.
