1001 Albums Summary

I just can't get into this style of music. That bouncy pop piano stuff.

This is an incredibly perfect record. One of the all-time greatest ever recorded. Every song is a masterpiece.

I can appreciate this, I guess. Not really my thing. Invaders & Run To the Hills are fine, but I wouldn't listen further.

I was going to list my favorite tracks but they're all brilliant. But if I had to pick: You Still Believe In Me, Waiting For the Day, & Sloop John B.

Em's first two tapes are too tied to my late teen years to give a completely unbiased review, but I figured now would be a good time to revisit. When I was 17 and he got big, you couldn't tell me nothing - dude was hilarious! Listened to the cassette tape over and over. But, when it comes down to it, this is comedy rap and, to me, comedy music has little replay value. Especially at my ripe age of 41. Em is the Weird Al Yankovic of hip hop, if Weird Al was a self-deprecating corn ball. A lot of the beats and general lyrical output is too same-y to really enjoy it as a full work. A song here and there will last you a long time. I can't imagine being old enough to have your prefrontal cortex developed and enjoying this past a nostalgic trip.
