Debut by Björk
Nov 03 2023

It's got the right amount of catchy emotional weirdness, reminds me a bit of Fever Ray (who I love) and I'm now a Björk fan too.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Nov 06 2023

"Under the Bridge" - perfectly tragic and timeless song to represent the raw emotional struggle with addiction for about 3 minutes, that could do without the uplifting (?) choir section added on toward the end. "I Could Have Lied" - the best guitar work I've heard from John Frusciante's whole career and makes a strong case for being one of the all-time great solos. A few more excellent tunes, some fun/catchy elements, and others that haven't aged well or weren't especially memorable in the first place. The album overall has its highs and lows, but the highest highs of ICHL are well worth any rough patches to get there. RIP Sinéad O'Connor

As a teenager who had recently tried my first reefer (I did not inhale), one day I decided I'd sit down and listen to DSOTM from start to finish - then immediately restart the CD to listen again countless times for years to follow. The album changed what I thought music could be, and changed my whole life path in ways I may never understand. As a mid-30s adult who hasn't touched any reefers for over a decade and listens to electronic bleeps and bloops music almost exclusively, with each revisit DSOTM continues to change what it means to me, sometimes challenging to self-reflect and other times reaffirming my life path in powerful new ways. tl;dr - The greatest and most important album I've had the chance to experience in 30+ years of life
