Three songs in and my take so far is: David Byrne (Talking Heads) and Yoko Ono had a love child and the B-52’s adopted her. Playfully quirky and distinctively different.
Dripping full of soul instead of jazz that stunted her, this tenth album rocketed Aretha to the top with “Respect” as well as the title track. It forever placed her in an echelon of musical greats. Released March 10th 1967.
Powerful feel in both her vocals and piano playing. Not necessarily my thing but enjoyed listening and learning about her back story.
