One of the greatest albums ever made. Perfectly created.
Not my normal music, didn’t dislike but didn’t grab my attention much either
Super weird cover of heard it through the grapevine. Overall a bit too slow and too falsetto for my liking
More folky than I expected it to be. Baby I’m amazed is a classic, hadn’t heard any of the others before. Similar writing structure to a lot of his Beatles songs
Definitely feels aged but an interesting blend of early hip hop and trippy beats
Kanye absolutely sucks as a human being but this is an all time classic album. Difficult to separate the art from the artist sometimes but some truly great songs on here. Through the wire will always impress me
Never knew the name but green onions instantly recognizable as a song! Mostly covers but all good stuff. Don’t love instrumentals as I’m a lyrics fan but this was still super enjoyable
Very much not my kind of rock music.
Super folksy which isn’t really my thing but interesting to check out
Like college dropout, an amazing album that is just hard to listen to given who Kanye is as a person
Very much not my style of music, abrasive instrumentals and lyrics didn’t grab me
Really interesting sound, enjoyed it a good bit. Lyrics not in English so can’t say but instruments were great and their voices sounded good
Expected this to not be for me, but enjoyed it more than expected. Still not my favorite but I get the appeal
Certainly feels aged. Only knew a couple of these but a cohesive albums and feels very Beatles across the board
This is some true old-timey folk/blues. It is much too slow for me, but given its era I don’t doubt it was an influential album
Bit funkier than I expected, does feel aged but not necessarily in a bad way (especially compared to some of the others older albums on this list). Everyday people I’ve known forever and truly is a classic song.
Instrumentals are not what I look for in albums, as I am a big lyrics person. But miles is an all time great and he’s an amazing musician. For what it is this is great and it doesn’t seem aged for something older than my parents
Can’t believe I’ve never heard this before, feels aged but also perfectly in line for 1989. Solid lyrics and production, think some of these were sampled too
Seven nation army is a classic, but was surprised it was the album opener. Much more varied than I expected, some quieter, calmer songs than I would have guessed given the opener. Not my go to rock but a good album
Instrumentation is great, lots of cool and different sounds that play off of each other well. Lyrics were a bit odd in some spots but nothing particularly bad
I appreciate jazz both in the talent and expression, and in the influence it has had in much of what I like. That being said, I am drawn to lyrics as much as anything and the lack of lyrics doesn’t hold me the same way.
Creative stuff, definitely can see how this influenced a bunch of artists over the years. Weird story but interesting, felt almost like a play/musical in structure
Not my favorite or the best tribe album, but Bonita into can I kick it might be the best back to back songs they have. Production is always great and there is something about QTip’s voice that always draws me in. They simply kept getting better from this point on
I know sultans of swing (though didn’t by name) but the rest is new to me. This is a cool album, smooth and a solid 42 min which is a good album length. Easy to have on and doesn’t feel particularly aged
This is super dated, very much feels like it is from the 60s. Compared to many other albums from the 60s this one doesn’t particularly stand out to me
Like many of these albums I know the one super famous song (bittersweet symphony) but didn’t know the rest. Drugs don’t work was cool, the rest sort of just blended together
I learned this guy was the front man of the pixies. I’m not much of a fan of them, and this is not really my cup of tea. I see the influence this likely had on others but doesn’t really do it for me
Let’s get it on is obviously an iconic song, but keep gettin it on is a silly reprise only a few songs later in an 8 song album. Come get to this is on the MLB the show 25 soundtrack which is a cool shoutout and a good song. Overall a good album that feels aged
This album changes the narrative on the “beach boy” name and vibe it implies - much more interesting themes and concepts than one might expect
