Otis Blue/Otis Redding Sings Soul
Otis Redding
Old Man Trouble sounds like a David Bowie song called The Gospel According to Tony Day.
Respect sounds a lot like the Yardbirds
A change is gonna come reminds me a lot of It’s Gonna Be Me by David Bowie. And also has a lot of the storybook elements that Bowie used in his 60s era and specifically in the song Silly Boy Blue.
Down in the valley has some very appreciated funk.
Shake is a very classic style of jazzz
My girl seems very familiar very good
Wonderful world is the best song in the album so far a little cheesy but the beat is great.
Rock me baby’s music is what I dub hard jazz because the sax is very aggressive.
The rolling stone really ripped this guy off cuz I can get no is exactly the same as the rolling stone’s version. Incredible!!
The last song is an incredible jazz song, it is the perfect slow march. I love this type if music David Bowie used this style in his song Dreaming My Life, and it produces the same amazing effect.
This album starts out pretty good, but it really ramps up at the end, and you can definitely tell which side of the album made it influential. The only reason why this doesn’t get 5 stars is because it takes so long to get there.

Adele
Hello- great song this a very unique thing about this song is that it is talk directly to someone and not the listener which is very interesting, and how well it is able to convey its message with subtle lyrics that let’s the listener figure out what it going on which shows the the complexity of the emotions and feelings in such a situation. Also if you notice there is barely any instruments until the last third of the song. And it is just light drums, and light piano. Which just shows how much her voice carries the music.
Send My Love - has a little bit of the savage energy that is present in a lot of her good songs, tho the chorus is a little bit too poppy it sounds almost like a rock song and then it build up to something exciting only for it to be a bland pop chorus.
I miss you - love the drums at the beginning they have this woosy sort if rhythm that constantly speeds up and slows down. Reminds me of the opening for Believe Me Natalie by the Killer the layering great and does really good with dynamics, reminds me how a Florence and the machine song. It feels like there are some dark undertones underneath the simple lyrics in the way that she sings it. It has some minor inflections.
When we were young - has really great emotional impact on the listener. I remember listening to this a long time ago and thinking this song sounded really nostalgic of better day, and now I still feel the same things. You have hear the bittersweet tug in the way she truly expresses her emotions in this song one if her best songs, I personally think it is better than Hello. i also like how she purposely scratches her voice up at the end, a very nice touch.
Remedy - this was a sort and sweet song very simple but fun and catchy
Water under the bridge - this is an insanely catchy song, and it flows from on section to the next and the rhythm is unique and complex.
River Lea - this is a really good song in the beginning and is almost a top song, but it falls into the trap most songs do where they drop the cool music after the first chorus and they go make to boring old pop noises. The beginning sounds like a cool folk song so it is very much missed in the rest of the song.
A million years ago - this is one of the top songs in the album. It is heartfelt, acoustic, and it is the only song that is about something entirely different from the other songs. Really good!
Love in the Dark - the instrumentation is great, but the lyrics are very boring and cliché, plus out of all of the 11 song about this topic this is the third worst.
All I ask - another boring song about the same thing. This one also doesn’t have great music to cover it up so this is the second worst
Sweetest Devotion - this one bored me the most, and it is about the same thing. This is the worst.
Overall this album has some banger songs, but they are almost all about the same thing. I get that the pop industry is finding one good idea and then bash out songs about that same idea until people get bored of it, but that just means you get a couple really great songs that are incredibly, and then the creativity get burn out at the end causing the rest of the album to suffer. But the Greats are really great so they carry the album really well. Also Adele could be a rock artist if she stopped putting in those pop flairs in her songs. The song that don’t have them are really good. Though they are subtle enough that it doesn’t ruin the really great songs in the albums such as Water Under the Bridge and When We Were Young, they would be way better without them, they kinda cheapen the songs for me, and I really like them otherwise

Blood, Sweat & Tears
Blood, Sweat & Tears
Variations on a theme by Erik Satie - wow i had no idea this song was that old, it is an incredible song that just hits in pit of your stomach, but I can’t explain what emotion it is that I am hit with it’s a strange mix of happiness and sad.
Smiling Phases - this is some swinging jazzz. I don’t have much to say about this except that I dig it and it is jamming. This band sound sounds similar to CCR, maybe CCR was inspired by this band’s sound?
Sometimes in Winter - this one sounds like a whole bunch of different popular bands mixing together. This is a really good song. Just overall a great piece, and is extremely different from the one before.
more and more - we are back to the CCR sound, and to the swing jazz. Very fun to listen to, and another big hit. I don’t understand why this band isn’t more well known they are so good.
And when i die - with the first second I already know that this is a good song. Country can’t go wrong! This is another great song.
God Bless the child - this one is a soulfully slow song, very nice a calming. This is my favorite kinda Jazz/Rock where the kinda march along the beat (dun-dun-DUN, dun-dun-DUN). I don’t know exactly what the song is about, I sound very sweet at the end.
Spinning wheel - yo that song is popping man. I especially love when the singer harmonizes his voice with the horn.
You made be so very happy - i finally released that this singer reminds me if the band America. I really love these love ballads, good jazz is unexplainable. It is just good, and I groove with it. OOOH, and then it switches from the love ballad to that rocking jazz that hits you in the soul, it makes you feel alive.
Blues Pt. 2 - this almost like a jazzy orchestral arrangement, both in style and in length. It starts with this haunting organ almost like a haunted house, but then the organ breaks into a jazzy rhythm in the second movement. Reminds me of the bit tunes they would use in the boss levels in videogames. And then there hs a slight pause before moving into the third movement which just sounds like a different rhythm than the second, but then it fires out with all these other jazz instruments. And then settles into this nice Electric Bass groove until it lets up, and then the drums that were just whispering in the background just fly out and now it’s their turn to show their stuff. Then it get into the funky groove, and all the instruments so far come together in this exciting funk paving the way for the explosion of the brass. And then they settle down letting the sax do its thing With the bass and drum as their rhythm. Then eventually it all shifts to a slower beat and quieter dynamic. And it sounds a little bit more romantic and an electric guitar is whispering in. I feel a little bit of a tension in the way that they staccato all the notes with big spaces and hard accent, and then sometimes very familiar starts. First quiet then it blasts in your ear. And then it settles into the blues, and here the lyrics start. Oh man is this a good blues song, with incredible opening.
Variations on a theme pt 2: this fades in from the previous song and closes out the album. This one have fuller sound that the first one since it has more instruments. I very nice way to end out the album.
More and More (live) - this one rocks a little bit harder than the recording, I like it.
Smiling Phases (live) - they made this one a really grand piece. It starts put classical then shift into a slow jazz, that eventually transitions into this battle rhythm with the drum, and then it brakes out into the main song. Then they just really expand on the instrumental interludes of the original. It gets really crazy in the middle because they start taring the song down to a slow pulse a then builds it back up in a matter of seconds. To clarify the taring down is really long and then they build it up fast. It was incredibly good. Even the audience had to applaud them when they built it up so fast.
I really love this album, it switches between very different styles of music rock, classic, jazz, folk, country, and the do it incredibly well. I love it when they step back from the lyrics and just let the instrument shine with blazing glory!!!
This gets a very strong 4 stars.

A Night At The Opera
Queen
Death on two legs - the orchestration is incredible as usual. Very dark and mysterious tone. They are incredible at making all the instruments sound as one.
Lazing on a Sunday afternoon - this is an old-timey song that was electrified. Incredible.
I’m in love with my car - i like how the guitar transitions in from a motor noise. They do a really good job at selling what their songs are about. This is a very rocking song about driving a car
You’re My Best Friend - this is a song that is a very different tone from most if their songs. This one is a lot happier and upbeat, and they are able to sell this emotion perfectly and it still sounds like a queen song.
‘39 - I never would have thought that queen would right a folk, but yet they absolutely nail it.
Sweet Lady - this was a solid song, but it is at this point the weakest in the album. It is kinda generic, and this is the only song that instruments don’t really come together, and Freddie is of beat quite a few times, and it is extremely noticeable.
Seaside rendezvous - this is another olde made electric. This time it is rag time and a little bit of parlor music. It really has this fun beach vibe while still having elements of heavy rock.
The Prophet’s Song - this is an incredibly beautiful piece, and it very orchestral. It has a similar structure to Bohemian Rhapsody because it starts out lighter with that is mostly acoustic, then transitions into an opera which then jolts into a hard rock, and then end beck at the start with the acoustic.
Love of My Life - This transitions in from the previous song, and it is very low and sad song. It shows how Freddie is really a good musician with a great voice and can do more than rock and roll.
Good Company - this is another surprising pop folk song at first but then it builds up with a solid beat a very energetic rock song. Really good transition, cannot stop listening to it.
Bohemian Rhapsody - nothing needs to be said that hasn’t been said before.
God Save the Queen - this is just an electric cover, i feel like there is a pun here.

Deep Purple In Rock
Deep Purple
Speed King - this has a lot of the usual hard rock features that you would find in bands like Aerosmith. But this also has a lot of punk/hip hop rhythms in here, which I like. It is very funky.
Bloodsucker - this sounds a lot like Aladdin Sane/Ziggy Stardust style of music. If it were a little harder, and less glam. But it has the same jazzish rhythms and singing style. I feel like I have heard these riffs in those songs.
Child in Time - this is a cool sounding song. It almost has a Led Zeppelin vibe. The riff is really cool, once again it sounds like David Bowie a lot, but this time it sounds a lot like something from The Width of a Circle. This one does the same thing that Blood, Sweat, and Tears did where they would have to short lyrical sections, but then they fill in the rest of the time with (in this case) rock jams. I think that is really cool, I think what is missing from music nowadays is that there is very little focus on the instruments, and too much attention on the vocals. The music has to be good too. I am not listening too close to the lyrics but they sound like they might be interesting.
Flight of the rat - this is also a fun vibe, they are really good at making solid jams. This also sounds like David Bowie, his albumPin Ups. Really cool drum solo at the end. It has that oozing rhythm that I love, another song with it is the opening of Believe Me Natalie by the killers.
Into the Fire - I really like the fuzz in this song. Has a similar vibe as I Am Iron Man. Singing style is from a Beetles song, I am A Walrus. It also has a very familiar riff, I can remember the song it’s from, but it is very recognizable. Overall it is a jamming tune.
Living Wreck - despite the title this song is cleeen. Very smooth jam.
Hard Lovin’ Man - the intricacies of the jam section is incredible. They are clearly very good at playing/making the music end of the song. In the middle there is this cool discordant section where all of the notes are at odd intervals that if not used correctly would sound horrible, but they make it sound good, and cool to Listen to.
This album is a very high 4

U2
Sunday Bloody Sunday - classic song, not much can be said other than it is great
Seconds - this song has a nice beat. Very simple in its lyrics, but portrays the message effectively. The rhythm of the singer is a little off in some parts. Very disappointed by the bridge, when you go down you’re supposed to come back louder, otherwise it pointless, and it sounds flat. It becomes less flat in the outro, which it was more like this for the rest of the song.
New Year’s Day - definitely the best song in the album so far if not in the album. This one is not flat. Out of the two classics in this album this one beats Sunday Bloody Sunday. I like how at points in the song it feels like he is struggling to say the words.
Like a Song… i like the drums at the beginning but the rest of the song is kinda flat. I’m not sure what it is because it has all the pieces of a hard rock song, but it just isn’t hard.
Drowning Man - very flat if the rest of the album is like this then I am giving it a 3
The Refugee - this really turns things around. This song is very fun, and it has emotion. The opposite of flat.
Two Hearts Beat As One - now they have found their winning streak because I am not bored anymore. This song rocks.
Red Light - this one continues the winning streak. This one is a hard or fast, but it is still engaging, and very much not flat.
Surrender - this one is very rock opera-ish where the jams are powerful, but slower and drawn out. This song is a party man.
40 - this was is slower and laid back, but it is still very good. This has some nice emotion to it, and it is a nice way to close the album.
Overall, they have great songs, and other than when they are too flat they are pretty good. This is a low 4 stars
