1001 Albums Summary

I remember playing Superstition during my brief time as a top-40 disk jockey. Back then I thought it had a wicked groove. What I hear now is a lot of subtlety that I missed before. A very fine album. It doesn't draw me in these days through no fault of it's own.

I've come around belatedly. Now I agree that this is the Beatles' best. Peak McCartney and the emergence of George as an important songwriter. Only two Lennon tracks on the US version, which I had when it was new. (George had more!) But those two tracks dominated at the time. 50+ years later, it's clear that the full album, with the three Lennon tracks restored, is a very well-balanced effort by the entire band. But from this perspective, it's Paul who dominates. The range and variety of his tracks are stunning.
