Jazz Samba
Stan Getz
Ah Stan Getz. Man he played with almost everyone and bookended big band through smooth jazz. Not a huge smooth jazz fan and this bossa nova foreshadowed the smooth jazz movement but I sure can appreciate his sound. Check out some of his other stuff when you can. Has a real woodsy sound and always finds a way with his horn.

Live At The Regal
B.B. King
By the sounds of this I’m not sure anyone has ever enjoyed playing music more than this man. Love BB King and it’s always good to be reminded of why.

Bat Out Of Hell
Meat Loaf
Huge album when it came out. I remember trying to figure out what the heck it was when I first heard it. Rock? Yes. Broadway? Yes. Top 40? Yes. Sappy cry at home on a Friday night alone? Yes. I still leave “Dashboard” on when it comes on the radio. Mostly waiting for Scooter’s part.

Charles Mingus
One of my favorite Mingus albums. This has been in my rotation for years. Gives you a strong feel for what this genius was up to.

At Budokan
Cheap Trick
Great album and showcases what must’ve been a great venue to play. Robin Zander is underrated. Actually the whole band is underrated. Great listen.

Led Zeppelin IV
Led Zeppelin
The Classic in Classic Rock. Critics creamed it when it came out but it stands the test of time and is still relevant. The last four songs are the band at their eclectic best.

Truth
Jeff Beck
This blew minds when it came out and still does. Jeff Beck always seemed a bit unknowable. Never sure what he was up to but it was always interesting.

Exile On Main Street
The Rolling Stones
It’s a wonder the boys were able to not only start but finish this album considering the summer long party occurring in the South of France in the name of work. The album itself is a bit uneven but the classic tracks will live forever.

Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd
For me this album is second only to Animals in the Pink Floyd canon. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is heartbreaking and beautiful. Never will I tire of listening to David Gilmour’s soaring guitar and understated haunting voice. I can say the same for this album.

Aerosmith
My first concert’s first song was Sweet Emotion and to this day I can still see Joe Perry with that crazy Peter Frampton mouth thing playing the opening and whipping it away when the rest of the band kicks in. Great moment and this album is full of them. Classic for a reason.

Can’t love the great albums without something to compare them to. This is one of those albums…
