1001 Albums Summary

Actual bangers through the entire album. Stairway to Heaven, Black Dog, and Rock and Roll are absolute top tier songs.

A super impressive debut album with a few all time classics, which are still my favorites after listening to the full album (our lips are sealed and we got the beat). The consistent sound is not bad per se, but leads to some tracks blending in with others. Some of the lyrics I was just not vibing with, but the album is hard carried by the upbeat and energetic sound they carry throughout. Album cover is pretty fire, and it’s a great album name.

Not every song hits the exact same, but the ones that do really hit hard. When Doves Cry is by far my favorite track from Prince and the bookends of the album with Lets Go Crazy and Purple Rain as well as I Would Die 4 U in there make this a masterpiece album. The energy and unique sound is there, and the belting always slaps. Album name is iconic and fantastic, and ending the album on the title track is a killer move. Purple Rain and the color purple in general epitomizes Prince for a reason. The art is a bit more questionable; The clashing borders are a bold choice and in general the cover is not my cup of tea but I respect it.

Out of respect for James Brown and what he brought to music I give this a 3, but my enjoyment was closer to 2. Not really a fan of live albums, and I couldn’t really pick a specific song from the album that I would return to - especially not in the live format. I do like the album cover with the abstract watercolor painting vibes. No comment on the album name.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this album, realistically just shy of 4 stars. Felt like clean cut grunge rock. All I Know is such a banger

Great album, had a fun time listening. Not all of them are super memorable, but I feel like the general bar of quality is quite high. Unfortunately nothing on this album tops 20th Century Boy, but Bang a Gong is a legendary tune. Album cover is pretty sweet, and with the album title they have created a super solid rock n roll vibe.

I was vibing until I fell off the proverbial vibe cliff. I can appreciate that they REALLY went for it, but just cant bring myself to enjoy it. Album cover is very fitting, 5 star.
