Tago Mago by Can

If I ever need drumrolls I know where to go. Halleuwah was nice upbeat fun track and the whole thing was a surprise. Feels more modern than 1971 and somehow not modern at all. If made a movie set in an unclear time frame I'd use this music. Glad to be exposed to Krautrock.

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths

Reminds me of High School and the kids who loved dockers and rolled up jeans. The Smiths are very good clearly maybe not exactly for me. This is still a good album clearly.

Loved this album from the moment I heard it but I forgot how good some tracks are. Drew Barrymore for example.

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Mar 22 2024

Surprised but not surprised how good this album is. Obviously, legends start for a reason. Standouts for me were the hit track Rebellion (Lies) and I love Wake Up. A 5/5 album for sure deserves its spot on this list.

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Mar 25 2024

Fantastic listen. Have never heard this album in one sitting. This is that bluesy rock they are known for. This is legend making music.

Nixon by Lambchop

I forgot this group existed and I'm more familiar with an older album, the hilariously named Thriller. This one is very easy to listen to. Standouts for me are the very RnB feeling Grumpus and You Masculine You. A lot of it feels like spoken poetry over chamber music and I think that is on purpose. I do appreciate horns and vibraphones getting some love.

Hotel California by Eagles
Apr 01 2024

I know most of these songs well, but I have to admit listening in one sitting to this album diminished my enjoyment. Title track is wonderful of course and the dreamy New Kid in Town recording sounds perfect. What kind of studio was that recorded in? Surprise surprise Greatest Hits is better.

Harvest by Neil Young
Apr 02 2024

Synonymous with singer song writer and for good reason. Dude's smooth and mellow delivery is legendary. Great album.

Apr 03 2024

Wonderful album. Title track is iconic of course but the rest is very nice time capsule to the early 80s. This album is a love letter to New Age music of that time. This City Never Sleep is a standout track that caught me by surprise. I love it. Today I learned Wrap it Up is a cover, written by Issac Hayes and David Porter later covered by The Fabulous Thunderbirds. Billie Eilish and Finneas writing and producing their stuff feels like an impression of Annie Lenox and David Stewart in some ways. Very personal music made with patch work tech in a personal studio.

Doolittle by Pixies
Apr 04 2024

Musically a well-appointed album no doubt there. I am glad to add several tracks to my playlist. I like seeing where Wave of Mutilation came from surprised to learn Here Comes Your Man is the more popular song. A good listen for sure. A very good album I see why it is on the list.

Skylarking by XTC
Apr 05 2024

I've never heard of this band at all. Interesting album. I did enjoy a few tracks and the music is unique and inspired. Nice use of synth. Dear God is a stand out and made my playlist. Glad to hear it but don't expect to revisit.

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Apr 08 2024

Forgot about some of these songs. The Boys stand up to time well. Their contributions to early hip hop are undeniable. This album is damn good work. I added Slow Ride to my playlist. That bass takes me bake to woofers in the trunk.

Dummy by Portishead
Apr 09 2024

A real walk down memory lane. Stands up very well and is clearly timeless. The roots of Trip Hop are here. Really enjoyed this album.

OK by Talvin Singh
Apr 10 2024

Well, it was easy enough to listen to and I concede for its genre it seems pretty good. Not sure I needed to hear that before I died. Maybe it could play after I'm dead, at my funeral?

The Beach Boys Today! by The Beach Boys
Apr 11 2024

Help me Rhonda! get her outta my heart. Timely for this album to pop up. I have a new appreciation for The Beach Boys. However, when people talk about how much better music was then VS now are they considering this repetitive stuff? The music is fun and easy to listen to but is it really deep and great lyrically. No.

Apr 12 2024

What a blast from the past. Good ole Vic Rattlehead and this thrash metal album were part of my high school years. My headbanging days were back for a day. The title track made it into my daily playlist. A great album for sure perfect sample of the genre. I really appreciate the guitar work.

Homework by Daft Punk
Apr 15 2024

Was a blast to listen to this complete. To me, Daft Punk has earned their spot in history. I think the fun twists in the music elevate them above just house.

Raw Like Sushi by Neneh Cherry
Apr 17 2024

Meh, is my best response. The album feels very amateurish. The music is thin and soulless. This album does not belong on this list.

Picture Book by Simply Red
Apr 18 2024

Very enjoyable jazz album. His voice is smooth and silky and comforts like soft pajamas after a shower. Music is well done clean clear production a well-deserved inclusion. Very relaxing

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Apr 19 2024

No doubt a masterful creation in its time period. It lacks the punch and energy of the work I know him for. The quality is undeniable the enjoyment may vary.

The Velvet Underground & Nico by The Velvet Underground
Apr 22 2024

Apparently, I don't know any songs from this album but felt like I knew this group. It was a nice trip back to the 60s and the roots of alternative rock. The guitar work was good. I appreciate the composition of this album even though I may not listen again.

Blood On The Tracks by Bob Dylan
Apr 23 2024

You either gonna like Dylan or hate him and you know that going in mostly. This album has two of the songs I like the most by Mr. mumbles and I enjoyed it overall. Thes ones I don't know landed fine.

Bossanova by Pixies
Apr 24 2024

Taking me back to the 90s. Makes me think of patchouli oil and counter culture. Never a huge fan but this album hit me just right. it is very well done and enjoyable.

Apr 26 2024

I have to admit I did not know Steve Winwood was in a band. This was reasonably listenable. Modern music cold use more flute.

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 29 2024

Very biased since this is a favorite album. No skips and every song is legendary. One the best pieces of media in 1977 and possibly ever. Take your silver spoon and dig your grave.

Aqualung by Jethro Tull
Apr 30 2024

Locomotive Breath is an all-time great song! Doing a lot of lifting here. This album was enjoyable but there certainly was a sameness to the tracks. Voice, instrument and melodies were repeated in a way that was never boring but very noticeable. Still, high quality album and easy to listen to.

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
May 01 2024

I was fine. Surprisingly upbeat for an album about 9/11

Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos
May 09 2024

Are the little earthquakes the bass? This is a very fun album every song has something to offer. I had not listened to this album in full before. Silent All These Years was all I had heard. Crucify was good and the bass in all tracks was fun.

You're Living All Over Me by Dinosaur Jr.
May 10 2024

I had no idea what or who Dinosaur Jr. was not on my radar. This was fine for me. Competent musicians and easy to listen to.

The Queen Is Dead by The Smiths
May 13 2024

Reminds me of High School and the kids who loved dockers and rolled up jeans. The Smiths are very good clearly maybe not exactly for me. This is still a good album clearly.
