First song is far too long for what it is. Things only really pick up just after the half way mark, the first 5 minutes is nothing even worth listening to all it is is a build up. The entire album manages to stay consistent and has a repetitive theme of descending above the plane of reality and away, the music reflects this behaviour and has many crescendos throughout. Bowie was at somewhat of the peak of his cocaine usage when this album was made which is the obvious steering wheel here. I think it’s quite overrated and isn’t is good as it’s spoken to be, but is definitely still a great album.
