Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Apr 26 2024

I'm not a huge Springsteen fan- his voice is gritty in a way that I don't care for on this album, like it's worn out. I feel like this album is overly nostalgia-fueled, but was probably a lot of fun to hear in concert. It's hard to listen to it with fresh ears since songs like Born in the USA and Glory Days are such overplayed karaoke/4th of July party fodder. I like the second half of the album better- the songs are more sensitive as it progresses. Dancing in the Dark is dated, but I don't mind it. I had never heard the song I'm on Fire until I watched the movie Pig with Nic Cage and the cover of it in that movie caused me to like it.

The Bends by Radiohead
Apr 27 2024

The Bends was one of the first CDs that I bought when I was 13. I loved the gritty garage rock sing-along style of it and I still know every inch of these songs. It doesn't compete in my mind with the more complex albums that were to come, but it was the beginning. It was raw and different.

Kid A by Radiohead
Apr 28 2024

This is one of my all-time favorite albums; I have listened to it hundreds and hundreds of times. There were no singles and it's hard to even think about it as individual songs. Unusually, the lyrics hold very little meaning to me. It is a meditative soundscape that viscerally stirs my soul. It makes me think of late nights when the rest of the world is sleeping.

All Directions by The Temptations
Apr 29 2024

Papa Was a Rolling Stone is a whole mood. Love the off-beat claps, all of the singing, the trumpet.

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Apr 30 2024

The Fleet Foxes are relaxing to me, but not many of their songs stick out individually. Your Protector is a song I knew. I like the larger collection this album is part of. Very layered, echoey music. I like that they have a song about the Blue Ridge Mountains, which I grew up on the edge of in the ridges and valleys of the Allegheny Montains.

Third by Portishead
May 02 2024

This is also one of my favorite albums. Machine Gun is my most beloved song on here.

Kenya by Machito
May 03 2024

Never heard this album before, very lively.

Tres Hombres by ZZ Top
May 06 2024

Never listened to the album before, despite heaeing a lot of the songs independently. I always thought of ZZ Top as a pretty silly band based off of their old music videos, but this wasn't bad
