Popular Reviews

Blunderbuss by Jack White

So fantastically surprising! I was so ready for this album to be an awful like pop-punk tweens era album but it was such a beautiful and engaging album full of fun tracks with really amazing production. I loved the production, the biggest issue is some of the superficial lyrics and maybe cringy vocals but I can’t deny I really enjoyed the album.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith

Pretty solid instrumental track, but being an instrumental only project can get boring and feel repetitive at times. The solos can be entertaining and the album doesn’t have any “bad” songs on it, just not interesting or stand out enough to really warrant a spot on the playlist.

Opening track was so cool to immediately hear the sample for “i”. The album definitely gets weaker as it runs until the end, but it held really solid throughout and I’m definitely adding it to my favorites.

“The Good Thing” is a really solid song but outside of that the album feels choppy with odd and unfinished production. The album wasn’t my cup of tea.

The big songs are big for a reason, but outside of those it’s a mid to bad album with some really low moments. The big 3 is really what saves this from being lower.

I’m a decent fan of the title track and “Iron Man” but otherwise I don’t love the incessant drum solos and builds that feel like they never really pay off. Dad loves them which makes so much sense since he’s a drummer but outside of that the tracks are all over the place, feeling like they attempted to imitate Beethoven with the slow somber juxtaposed with the crashing drums from one minute to the next.

Duck Stab/Buster & Glen by The Residents

This album sounds like a tween attempting to be edgy. I really dislike the sound and production and any attempt at lyrics should’ve been taken out of the final cut.
