1001 Albums Summary

The actual sound palette of this album is truly spectacular. It's full of remarkable songs, a few I'd probably consider to be the best ever written. That said, I feel a couple tracks fall short of this very high standard and so, although I can see why people adore this album front to back, for me it's not quite one of my all time favourites for that reason. Totally brilliant sound for 1966 though. I think at its worst, it is really good, and at its best, it's one of the greatest ever.

Although Coldplay are typically written off as a modern, sell out, basic pop band, their first 3 or 4 albums were really quite brilliant. Parachutes in my opinion, is the best. The iconic Yellow is here as well as some other wonderful tracks like Trouble which was a single, Everything's Not Lost which despite being a slower and mellow track, is very uplifting, and my persnal favourites, Shiver and Sparks. The general atmosphere of the record is pretty moody despite some of the more uplifting and positive outlooks and messages delivered. While this has the Radiohead alt rock blueprint just before Kid A became a nuclear explosion in the Radiohead universe, it's not a bad blueprint to use and I think they pull off the energy and the atmosphere very well. For people who wish to overlook Coldplay overall, I suggest you come to this album with an open mind and see how you feel.

Perfect from front to back even with the additions of Homesick and Last Dance. Despite being an album that is over an hour long, it is still perfect and it blows my mind at how well put together these songs are. Robert Smith is a master at making long tracks feel shorter than they are because the melodies and instrumentation is so well fleshed out so it never feels repetitive, it never feels boring. Plainsong is ambient genius. Pictures of You, Prayers for Rain, Same Deep Water and Disintegration are pain and grief in their purest form lyrically. Untitled is like the acceptance and ability to "move on" so to speak. These songs are then interspersed with Lovesong and Fascination Street which bring a bit more energy to the album which also proves to help the album along. There is no way this can get anything less than a perfect rating from me. It's the best album ever made.

One of the best ever and my favourite from Kraftwerk. The first album I ever bought as well. Not a single weak point of the whole thing just perfection the whole time. 10/10.

Great album with some legendary songs overall. Some songs leave a little to be desired particularly vocally but some of these are very essential so still gets a very respectable rating.

This album contains some of my favourite songs by her and I feel like generally it's very underrated in her discography. I'm a big fan of this particularly that first half is spectacular.
