Good lyrics and has that classic old music feel from that era, which can be a vibe sometimes. It isn't what I would listen to on my own very often, so I score it lower based on my personal preferences, but for the role that this album fulfills it does so well.
I liked Sixteen Saltines the most, it reminded me of the band Mindless Self Indulgence, but the rest of the songs didn't stand out to me. The songs had a similar feel with the consistent singing style and genre, but I couldn't get fully into the theme.
This is a solid album with a coherent sound throughout. I really like the combination of the man and woman singing together sometimes. The instruments sounds good and I like the lyrics. I could imagine us listening to it in the car with my dad driving around in Sweden and that makes me feel nostalgic.
I couldn't listen to the album in one go, unfortunately, so I went back this morning to spin it again. I like it, Geddy Lee sings in a unique shrill voice, but it works with the rest of the sounds from the band. This kind of 80's rock has a special charm to it, it feels like it brings me back in time even though I wasn't even alive back then! Some of the songs on the album were definitely better than others though - 'The Camera Eye' song sounds familiar, for some reason I connect the opening guitar riff with Pokémon? The album cover picture and with its title is funny!
Perhaps it was just my mood when listening to it, but I couldn't get into the album. I appreciate Mr. Bowie as an artist and the album has a lot of character, which I do enjoy very much, but for the music itself it was unfortunately a miss this time.
This was very pleasant background music, really moody and cozy. I liked it a lot and will return to it if I ever want that kind of jazz in my room. The only song I didn't care much for was the addition of the Ingoo Pow-Pow (Children's Song) at the very end, because the singing and identity of the song clashed with the rest of the album.
I know the band because of the great remix of their Heads Will Roll, and while the original song is alright the A-Trak version is way cooler. I like how the female vocals are in the foreground of every song and that their sound is consistent, even the acoustic songs at the end of the album weren't that different from the rest. They remind me of an earlier prototypical version of The Dø. It's not my favorite style to listen to, but I respect the coherence in style.
I will return to this album. It was enjoyable from start to finish and I especially liked how there were both fast and slow songs but nothing felt out of place. It was also fun to listen to the music because I could clear hear each individual instrument being played.
I would like to hear you singing and playing guitar like this. The album title is nice too! I could certainly imagine us listening to this as we're going on a short road trip. The slower songs are good for starting the day in the kitchen. I'm generally not a fan of country-like music, but I liked this album, it is well put together.
Of all the albums we've listened to so far this is the one that I have been feeling the least. I just didn't want to listen to it. It's not that all of the songs were bad or anything like that, because I did like the sound of some, it just wasn't me.
It didn't quite match my personal taste, but besides that I don't have much to comment on.
It sounded like the band had a lot of fun making this music, I'd give it five stars if it was more up my alley, but for this type of rock from that period it's the peak.
It feels very British, so if I want to feel British I'll listen to this.
It reminds me of the Saharan Jazz playlists you sent to me, enjoyable.
Excellent disco album, every song was nice! Definitely a vibe.
Major pass, please stop giving me David Bowie albums. Didn't enjoy any of the songs.
I liked the album, it reminded me of different bands at times, and the singer sometimes sounded a bit like Kurt Cobain. But they didn't stand out with a particularly unique sound that made them memorable to me.
I'm glad I finally listened to one of their albums, because you like them.
It's good to finally listen to The Doors after only knowing their reputation for many years, but their music wasn't for me.
Nice guitar got me going.
I'm not a big fan of the newer Foo Fighters but this older album was actually pretty decent
I liked the addition of strings on one of the songs, and it feels like the artist made songs that were personal to them. I appreciate the album for what it is, but it isn't one I would normally listen to on my own.
Short, varied, exciting, fun!
Rap-storytelling, a cohesive album, ending with a poem and conversation with 2Pac, mixing a lot of musical elements and at times reminding me of the innovative sound of André 3000. It's not every song I want to listen to for the vibe-sake, but I like the complete work.
Really fun rap album with an old school classic feel to it! Easy to listen to lyrics, fun musical and sound elements, the 1950s speaker voice, all of it came together smoothly.
Straight back to the early 2000s! What a debut album, providing the sound of a decade!
