London Calling by The Clash

Interesting. Genuinely punk. Engaging blend of genres. But not my thing. Learned some about history too.

Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jul 19 2024

The different parts of this I feel are arranged exceptionally well and I immediately appreciated the bluesyness. I love the twang of the guitar and I appreciate the brevity of the solos. However the whole album somehow sounds frivolous which makes me dislike it intensely. When I think blues I think soulful, melodic, and playful in an improv way, and the high prevalence of that technically blues sound while simultaneously sounding like a cereal box reads turns me off from this album hugely.

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Jul 21 2024

I enjoyed the melodic vocal fry of Robert Plant and the instrumental rather than lyric emphasis. I can very much appreciate the place at the beginnings of heavy metal that this album claims. Also was nice to hear the obligatory all drums track somewhere in the middle of the album. Reminded me a lot of BS's Rat Salad. Overall I won't listen to this again but won't rate it too low because i dislike it for reasons relating particularly to personal taste.
