1001 Albums Summary

Enjoyed the last song the most, how it flows into the separate sections. Interesting that they didn’t just break them into three individual tracks.

Surprisingly enjoyed this album. Impressive for their debut, how they developed a distinct sound for themselves. I think the Ice Cream Man would be my favorite track, but I also enjoyed the opener and “Jamie’s Cryin.’”

Pretty drab and in unenjoyable listening experience in my opinion. Just What I Needed is the only songs that stands out.

This album has some groove to it, but the vocals are kinda drab. I guess that’s what to expect with Elliott Smith though. The first 3-4 tracks were solid, then started to drop off a bit. Stupid Ties was a high point, but the remaining few songs dragged til the end.

Impressive creativity, but doesn't really have a cohesive vision quite like Dark Side which came out the same year. There is perhaps too much going on to really follow. Could use a few more listens to fully process and appreciate, but I don't see that happening.

All over the place in a bad way. Singer sounds like an angry Tom Jones, wanna be kinks, etc. Five short songs then one random eighteen minute track? Who would ever consider this a classic?
