Those two singles are misleading. A good majority of this album is jazzy, breezy soft rock. With some surprisingly bold songwriting and production decisions. It’s very dire straits in soul, very 80s in execution. Vibe is a dock in the south somewhere on a lake, and I’m seeing the day pass as the album progresses. From dawn to dusk. Fireflies and reeds and fish and shit. Overall shockingly good. 4/5

Viewed as a soundtrack or a vibe it’s excellent. But individual songs feel lacking. Great world, but sometimes the ideas drag on 3/5

Way more versatile a record than I thought. Solid songwriting keeps the blues fresh. Music for Clear skies 3.5/10

I wanted to get eviscerated by soft spoken harmonies but this thing is just kinda dinky. Has its moments. 2/5

Somehow balances raw electricity with breezy grooves. Makes me feel like I’m running from a dogcatcher as a British Jack Russel terrier with a little hat. 3.75/5

Pretty good stuff. Heart of gold actually seems quaint compared to some of other emotionally potent material on here. Eg, every man needs a maid, old man, or the closer Words. 3.5/5
