1001 Albums Summary

Pretty jazzy, some jam band-y long instrumentals on songs. I prefer the catchier shorter songs. Some of the production/electronic instruments sound dated.

Boom bap New York styled beats fused with rock influences. The trios contrasting voices, interesting samples, exciting pace changes, and Rick Rubin’s production make this album an entertaining listen.

A long introspective journey by Kendrick. Riddled with poetry and spoken word inserts the multitude of tracks is accompanied by gospel, and classic hip hop ad libs. It’s tough to define any song as a pure bop or radio hit (despite some being so). I feel like this album would be undervalued if you don’t sit in a chair and listen to it front to back with no distractions, like a movie. As such, I’m booting my ranking up into the high 4s.

Punchy flowing background tunes with an interesting blend of subtle vocals from both singers. Very airy, chill, soundscape on this one.

Down and dirty. Lo-fi rock for a dive bar with Iggy’s scratchy raw vocals over each song. I can smell the Budweiser, cigarettes, and tight denim on this album.

Crispy clear guitar work and melodies. Somewhere between Led Zeppelin and the Beetles. Some really funky song structures, and jammy solos. This one delivered in true 70s/80s fashion.

Kind of confused on this one. An odd arrangement of Stevie Songs. I get lost on the God songs being included here, and the funky soulful ones don’t deliver as big of a punch. Minimal repetitive lyrics don’t add to the draw.
