Surfer Rosa by Pixies
Sep 10 2024

Very gritty early "indie" sound. Doesn't have the same songwriting panache as Doolittle or Bossa Nova, but some of Joey Santiago's best guitar work, TBH.

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Sep 11 2024

The music has a very fun and energetic feel to it throughout.... honestly, I was surprised at how dark the lyrics to some of the deep cuts are ("Oh Why?", for example). Also: "Rip it Up" kind of slaps.

Sep 12 2024

One of Queen's more eclectic albums (pretty high bar, TBH). I was under the distinct impression that "Good Company" from A Night at the Opera was the only time Brian May ever broke out the ukelele.

My Generation by The Who
Sep 13 2024

TBH, this album is full of fairly forgettable songs. I understand why the title track is the only one that gets any airplay, but I don't understand why this album ended up on this list... Although I do like how they use the refrain from that track as a leitmotif. "Much Too Much" sounds a lot like a worse version of "I Can See For Miles" from The Who Sell Out. I could have done without the "Mannish Boy" cover.
