Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival

Good album - worth the listen for the version of Proud Mary where the singer pronounces Turning and Burning as Toynin’ and boynin’.

Violator by Depeche Mode

Meh. I really want to like Depeche Mode in general, but, well, meh. I don’t like the vocals, and whilst the instrumentation probably sounded incredibly fresh when the album came out, it doesn’t any longer. Just left me a bit cold in all honesty.

Revolver by Beatles

A classic. Just wish Yellow Submarine wasn’t on it. Always enjoy listening to George Martin mixes and it always catches me by surprise to hear bass panned left in certain songs. I get the science behind it being sensible to keep bass straight down the middle, but sometimes it just works to pan, and sounds fun. Anyway, not the Beatles best, I’m giving it a 3 star

Intro always gets me in the feels. I absolutely love the vibe of the full album. Such an indolent sound.

Oct 31 2024

A verified classic. Probably the first time I’ve listened to the full album in about 20 years.

Awesome! Love that 70s soul sound, with elements of jazz. Some songs noodle on for a touch too long for me. But a really good album.
