Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Oct 29 2024

Kinda reminds me of The Clash. I like the album cover. Rhymin & Stealin is familiar- didn't realise they did No Sleep Til Brooklyn. Slow Ride samples Low Rider apparently? Ahh, and I know Girls too - it sounds like that Boyfriend (Tyler Cassidy) meme song? BRASS MONKEY Slow and low is the favourite I think.

Frank by Amy Winehouse

Stronger Than Man speaks to me a bit too personally. No Greater Love is nice - might be a best contender - only halfway through the album though. In My Bed is pretty groovy - another best contender. Oh my gosh- Take the Box - something about that. ANOTHER contender!

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic

10 minute instrumental track to start? let's see if this is a vibe. It's okay, just a little boring? Good for easy listening. Second track is good. Third and fourth pretty good too. Back In Our Minds sounds like wine glasses. Final track a bit of an ear-sore, guess that's part of the funk genre? Didn't realise this was Jimi Hendrix, and that he founded Electric Lady Studios. I like the album cover.

Remain In Light by Talking Heads
Nov 01 2024

loveeee the guitar already - track 1 "whoop." "TAKE A LOOK AT THESE HANDS." Instrumental on Houses in Motion sounds like a big mosquito. Last two tracks a little slow and uneventful? Taking a second listen though - little bit taken with Talking Heads. Favourite track has gotta be Born Under Punches - Once in a Lifetime too - that might trump BUP.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Nov 04 2024

liking the first track already. The third track is pretty good - it's very vibey and interesting :) Fourth is another banger - another contender for favourite track. All bangers oh my gosh. Sex Machine is 14 minutes???? I gotta say - the wobbly guitar for 14 minutes isn't really my jam. Update: Okay, it gets a bit better. okay no it's back again 🧍🏻‍♀️ The drums at the end really piss me off 😭 like stop already- that's the one guy who kept clapping after the applause

Aja by Steely Dan
Nov 05 2024

Already a fan of their debut '72 album, so let's see if they still impress 😌. Aja long ass instrumental- somehow sounds like the Beatles or The Kinks? Whole album was okay - quite soft and easy listening.

Songs Of Love And Hate by Leonard Cohen
Nov 06 2024

"I see a red door and I want it painted black" vibes Diamonds in the Mine: someone give this guy a throat lozenge 🙏 I don't know if this is my style- it's not. 1/5

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney
Nov 07 2024

not my cup of tea unfortunately :/

A Little Deeper by Ms. Dynamite
Nov 08 2024

brother track, felt. Packed valuable messages and stories in each song. decent R&B, just not my speed? Okay... literally two minutes of silence to separate the last track?

The Libertines by The Libertines
Nov 14 2024

Music When The Lights Go Out, Campaign Of Hate, and The Ha Ha Wall gotta be my favourite tracks on the album.

Meat Is Murder by The Smiths
