Beggars Banquet
The Rolling StonesI was expecting the blues and country rock influences, which I liked. A very enjoyable listen

Not for me
Wonderful
Don’t take the brown acid
Shame about the dodgy lyrics
An absolute corker of an album and one I’ll go back to again and again
Not really my bag, but rather lovely nonetheless
A lovely record full of well crafted tunes. I don’t know why I’d not heard the album before as I love the debut record. Oh and the MFSB cover on the extended version is divine
Not a patch on Moon Safari
This is one of those nose in the air, know all the words, sing-a-long record for me. Probably still the Bowie album I know and love best
Their debut is not one of my favourite Sabbath records, but there are glimpses of the magic(k) to come over the next five albums.
I’d not heard this record is years. It was a favourite of mine when I was much younger and it still holds up pretty well. It’s much funkier than I remember, which is no bad thing. Minus one point for all those tedious solos. I’m looking at you Moby Dick
I enjoyed this one. I perfect time capsule of early ‘80s pop. Oh and ‘Time After Time’ is a masterpiece
Another classic from my youth. Minus one point for the clunky innuendo. “Let me cut your cake with my knife”? Oh matron!
The full version of “Papa was a rollin’ stone” is glorious, but the rest of the album is patchy
Awful dad rock.
More dad rock, but an extra point for Jon Lord’s moustache
A modern classic. Well crafted songs, wonderful lyrics and perfect production. The Dap-Kings take this album to the next level.
Better than I remembered
Hugely enjoyable but way too long.
Magnificent. Probably the greatest hip hop album of all time
Weird and wonderful…and thankfully quite short.
Perfect
Another wonderful record.
Stone cold classic
This record hasn’t aged well. It’s overly long and there’s too much filler. Columbia seems to go on forever, and the second verse of Supersonic includes several of the worst rhyming couplets ever written. That said, the snarl of Rock ‘n’ Roll Star and the swagger of Cigarettes and Alcohol still take me back to drunken nights in Camden in the mid nineties.
Probably too eclectic to be wholly coherent album. I couldn’t get past the 80s production either. Sledgehammer is still a banger though.
