Gave it a chance, figured I could separate the art from the artist. Honestly, it's nothing special. I guess the incestuous racist has a pretty strong energy throughout, but it's not my cup of tea
I don't do a lot of hip hop deep dives, but this was definitely a gem. I'd heard The Food before, but all of the other tracks were solid. It's Your World is such a powerful track, I'm still re-listening and mulling it over. Glad this one popped up for me!
Great first half with the first 3 tracks being standout songs. The second half feels like it blends into itself, but it's still a good listen. Garageland definitely ends things on a high note. I like later punk and never got super into 70s British punk, but this is solid stuff.
Not a huge electronic guy, but always liked Personal Jesus. This is a really good album, pretty much every part of it is fantastic. So many great songs off this one, and they pretty much effortlessly keep the instrumentals up with the singing, with the synths. I am pretty stingy with my 5s, but if I could, I would give it 4.5 edit: fuck it I'll give it a 5
Don't know if I just wasn't in the right headspace for this album. I KNOW it's cool as hell, I KNOW it's funky and soulful, I KNOW it has a good and relevant message, but none of the tracks really clicked for me or gave me anything special. The vocals and instrumentals are tight, it sounds good, it just wasn't very memorable.
