The Temptations
This is my New Year’s Resolution. Let’s begin.
I appreciate the talent and artistry put into this album and I have no trouble recognizing it. Field notes for the day are that I already realize that these songs were made in a much different time, as will be the case for many albums going forward. That being said, I think I would appreciate this album much more in a time when every song I could ever want is at the tap of a finger. I would love to hear this in certain situations, such as from a street performer or in a movie, but I don’t know if I’ll ever willingly search up this album and listen to it in my headphones. Run Charlie run is fun, and Mother Nature I kind of liked, so I’ll mark it. Other than that, this album is good, just doesn’t stick out to me.

Queen
Yeah, I’m accepting the fact that I just don’t like Queen that much. This album is fine to me, it’s just… too much going on. By reading reviews, this one seems pretty popular, but man, I just don’t get it. Their songs just sound like a fever dream. Idk. I enjoyed this album more when I was able to just kinda have it on in the big ground and tune out all the chaos a bit, but it still just isn’t my cup of tea. I kinda liked Lap of the Gods 1 and 2, and Now I’m Here was fine. I’m ready for a new album.

Deep Purple In Rock
Deep Purple
This feels like pretty standard rock. I don’t really understand the cultural significance of this album for it to make this list- I could hardly even find it on the artist’s (who I’ve never heard of) account, much less the search bar. It was tolerable though, I kind of liked it. Child of Time was good. I’ll give it a high 3 stars.

Now this, I like.
This is an album I was familiar with before but had never listened to all the way through, and I didn’t ever piece together that a lot of these songs were from this album. It was a nice surprise today to get to listen to this.
It’s just such a classic sound that’s so familiar but I can’t place where else I’ve ever heard it before. This album just feels like its own genre to me. I freaking love that record twist sound they use so much. It’s just so iconic and fun and it feels like something that’s only been done once, in my opinion.
It’s pretty great, and I don’t want to loosely hand out 5 stars, so I’m going to give this one my first high 4-star for now. I think my only issue pertains to the fact I got tired of hearing “Motha-fucka!” and such every 2 seconds. Got kinda repetitive. Still though- W album. Favorite tracks are Fuck Tha Police, Straight Out of Compton, and Gangsta Gangsta.

Had a lot going on today but I read the first few reviews for this album and I kinda agree with the consensus I got from those few. It’s a good, fun album. Definitely heard these songs growing up. I’m not blown away by it but I also don’t have any complaints.

I really want to give this album another listen on a day when there isn’t a snow storm coming in and I don’t have a shift at work and assignments due at 11 and two tests coming up and my AirPods are working so I don’t have to listen to it over my phone speakers. It sounded really promising, and although I can’t say I’m usually a ‘soul’ fanatic, I think this is a good album, interesting to me that I’ve never heard of it and it’s the first one to be recommended to me that’s of my time. I don’t know if this album is changing the course of history but I liked it and I think it’s well made. Really like those last 2 tracks. 4 stars, right on the money.

But, I like this album in all its weirdness. I like whatever genre you call this. I appreciate it, I find myself laughing, thinking, “What am I listening to right now?”, but hey, I like feeling like I’m in a medieval village sometimes. Low 4 stars.

This, now this, this is the kinda stuff I grew up with. I enjoyed this album a lot, although I’m partial. It’s so simple, and it feels so real and heartfelt.

I liked it. I’m really going through the motions with these albums, but this one was good. Had never heard of him before. I’d like to return to it.
