Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
Jan 06 2025

Feels like he wants to focus on both guitar and song, which leads to both sounding secondary somehow. No doubt a guitar virtuouso, but some lyrics could use work. Nonetheless I enjoyed most songs a lot, and none were bad, 6-7/10.

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Jan 07 2025

B.B King lives up to his moniker! An incredible half and hour of some of the best blues. He skillfullt navigates between letting his voice and his guitar do the talking, all the while staying connected with the audience. 4.5/5, which I round up!

The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Jan 08 2025

Eminems debut, have listened before and it's still just as good. It's interesting to hear young, angry eminem compared to his (sometimes) more introspective later albums. He punches in every direction while being hilarious and lyrically clever. Can't really find anything to complain about, but the album is not life-changing. 4/5.

Bryter Layter by Nick Drake
Jan 09 2025

Quite nice and standard singer-songwriter album. He spices it up a bit with the latinesque "Bryter Layter", the jazzy "Poor Boy", and folk music-like(?) "Sunday", which I really appreciated! Otherwise nothing out of the ordinary in either direction. 3/5.

Jan 10 2025

I would like to describe it as "ethereal indie-rock", even if that makes me sound very pretentious. Very interesting instrumentally, with unusual melodies and sounds. Unfortunately not quite enough to lift it above 4 stars, so I go with 3.5/5, rounding to 3 in the vote.

Led Zeppelin by Led Zeppelin
Jan 13 2025

I recognize their musical ability, but unfortunately that's where it stops for me. While I am generally a fan of rock, there is just something with Led Zeppelin that does not click for me. They do not feel like a coherent band, rather 4 people who happened to be in the studio at the same time and each do their own thing. It pains me to say, but I find myself waiting for the album to end. 1.5/5, which I round to 2 for the cool cover and the legendary status of the band.

The Wildest! by Louis Prima
Jan 14 2025

I think the album had a very strong opening with a good mix of songs and purely instrumental tracks. But the second half becomes slightly repetitive, and in my opinion not as good. Still, no songs were bad, just that a lot of them sound a bit too similar for my preferences. 3.5/5, rounded to 3.
