I didn't realise I had several of their tracks in my fave songs! I’m not a music expert, but Sound of Silver is one of those albums that just hits differently. It has songs that make you want to dance, think, or sometimes both at the same time. "All My Friends" feels like the soundtrack to every bittersweet moments you get in life, while "Someone Great" is surprisingly, for me, quite emotional. There’s also a lot of fun energy, like in "North American Scum," which is done with the tongue firmly in the cheek and doesn’t take itself too seriously. The whole album still feels smart and cool for it's 17 years, and even if you’re not into electronic 'old' music, you might find yourself loving it anyway, I did.
I remember growing up in the 70's listening to Elvis, Mowtown and even a bit of Shirley Bassey, so this album wasn't alien to me and has songs I know. However, some songs feel repetitive, and the production, though great for its time, sounds dated. Despite this, the album remains a great early soul music treat.
Beck's Guero is a really fun and interesting album that feels like a mix of a bunch of different styles. It’s got catchy songs like “E-Pro” that make you want to move, and others like “Girl” that are chill but still stick in your head. The whole album has this cool, laid-back vibe, even when it gets a little weird or experimental.
If you like music that’s hard to pin down but still easy to enjoy, this is definitely worth checking out!
Some great iconic hits, but the heavy reliance on synthesizers and drum machines dilutes the raw, bluesy energy of their earlier work. It feels more like a shift toward commercial appeal than a genuine evolution of their sound.
Sorry if I offend anyone but I am not a fan of Mr Bowie. This has some good tracks, notably 'Golden Years' but I struggle to connect with him. Strange
Too weird. I can't connect to Bowie's sound. Sorry.
Weird, sounds experimental. It won't make my Top 100.
This is a classic that mixes hip-hop, R&B, and soul that is full of toe tappers. Released way back in 1998, it’s all about love, heartbreak, finding yourself, and speaking your truth.
Songs "Doo Wop (That Thing)" is super catchy, "Ex-Factor" is full of raw emotion and "To Zion" is a beautiful song about her love for her child. The music still feels fresh after all these years and is one of the best time tested albums ever and a must-listen for anyone who loves music that hits deep.
Country Life by Roxy Music is a bit different to their more recent albums but still a great blend of glam rock and art rock, showing the band's sophisticated sound and Bryan Ferry's charismatic, crooning vocals. The album is bold, atmospheric, and richly textured, with best tracks like "The Thrill of It All" and "Out of the Blue." A must-listen for fans Mr Ferry and the gangs recent stuff, and where it all started.
Great album. Early Stones stuff is the best.
Master of Puppets is a metal masterpiece. It’s an explosive mix of aggressive riffs, intricate solos, and powerful lyrics. Tracks like “Battery” and the title song showcase relentless energy, while “Welcome Home (Sanitarium)” adds haunting depth. James Hetfield’s raw vocals and Cliff Burton’s bass brilliance shine throughout. This album is a must-listen for any metal fan, Metallica are legends. A timeless classic.
