The Score by Fugees
Jan 07 2025

The background beats are super catchy and definitely make you want to bop your head. I can totally see why these tracks have been sampled by many. It was cool to hear the "I Only Have Eyes For You" sample in "Zealots." I love the contrast between conversation and singing. All of the songs flow into one another too. The ending of "Family Business" which includes a more stripped down version of "Killing me Softly With His Song" leads into "Killing Me Softly With His Song", resulting in a more dramatic effect. It was also nice to hear a different twist on the songs that were remixed, one of my favorites was "Fu-Gee-La (Sly & Robbie Mix)." Overall the album is really groovy and great to listen to. Some parts were not much different and kind of sounded repeated but I loved it more than I thought.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jan 09 2025

Prior to listening to this album iv'e only heard one CCR song. This album was shorter than I expected, only 34 minutes long. It opened up my mind more to country rock. I love the bluesy guitar pieces, the songs are definitely upbeat. Some of it is kind of repetitive and formulated but it was an easy listen. "Born On the Bayou" & "Proud Mary" were probably my favorites. I enjoyed it more than I thought. I can see these songs being used in a movie. It's a solid 3 for me.

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Jan 10 2025

I was excited when I saw this album was my chosen album for today. I have been wanting to listen to this album for a while. As soon as the drums kicked in on "Disorder", I was immediately reminded of the familiar sound of The Cure. It was also reminiscent of Interpol and Bauhaus. It transports you into this dark and moody atmosphere. As soon as I heard "Candidate" I knew it was my favorite. The melody and vocals are amazing. I played it five more times, it is going onto my playlist for sure. I'm putting this at a 4, Im sure as I listen to it repetitively it will go up in ranking.
