Sound of Silver
LCD SoundsystemBefore writing this review I must confess I have not heard of anything from LCD Sound System other than Daft Punk is Playing at My House. It's been an absolute pleasure listening this album from start to finish. The album starts with "Get Innocuous!", which has a long but increasingly fast paced, 70s/80s retro feel build up that I enjoyed very much. The theme gets further developed in "Time to get away", with lovely percussion and great baseline. "Someone great" sounds like an instant classic, with good lyrics about grief. "All my friends" again another strong track with fast pace piano base to start. Strong lyrics about aging. "Us v them" brings it back to earlier theme in the album - great build up and very immersive. I found "Sound of silver" musically varied and interesting, and "New York, I love you but you are bringing me down" is a great song to close the album. The slow(er) glam-rock ish finish was like finishing a dream-like odyssey back to the past, but yet it's very 00s indie. For the other tracks in the album, musically "North American scum"/"Watch the the Tapes" are good, but compare to aforementioned tracks they are a little bit forgettable. Overall I really enjoyed the album, and I will definitely listen to more albums by LCD Sound Systems! 4.5/5
