1001 Albums Summary

I'm surprised how much this sounds like roots rock or country to modern ears. The two songs that everyone knows from this album, "Sympathy For The Devil" and "Street Fighting Man" are good, but kind of overshadow other interesting songs like "No Expectations" or "Jigsaw Puzzle" or "Factory Girl".

Another jazz album. Great... The first track sounded like it took hints from Green Onions. But after that it went into jazz noodling and was all pretty bland. Good background music for a coffeehouse maybe. The bonus track was ok. Nothing really hooked me in. My Rating: 2/5

Oasis... Not my favorite pop rock band, but I know they've got a couple of solid hits. Roll With It was ok, but not memorable. Understandable why it didn't get radio play. Wonderwall. The most OVERPLAYED song on the album. So whiny. Don't Look Back in Anger. Good song. Cast No Shadow is pretty good, should have gotten more attention. Lyrics are interesting, tune is catchy. Morning Glory was pretty good as well. Champagne Supernova, the first tune I actually heard from Oasis. I remember seeing the music video on MTV, back when they actually played music. Decent enough song. All in all, good album. Oasis never caught me as a band that I wanted to give a relisten, but they weren't a band I couldn't stand listening to again. My Rating: 3/5
