Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Feb 12 2025

Well, for starters I absolutely love this album! Little Richard's energy is undeniable and the band is right there with him. I especially like it when you can hear his voice overwhelm the microphone. This is what the birth of a movement sounds like folks. My older sisters and brothers had the singles when I was a mere tot, so this brings back some great memories!

Feb 13 2025

My older brother played this album all the time when it first came out. I never cared much for it because it didn’t have any heavy guitar solos a la Hendrix or Page. All these years later I acknowledge its influence but it’s still not my favourite Beatles album.

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Feb 19 2025

I remember when Autobahn first came out in 1974 and how strange it sounded then. This is my first time hearing this particular album and it’s oddly pleasant in the modern context, which surprised me.

Joan Baez by Joan Baez
Feb 20 2025

Like Bob Dylan and others of the great folk music scare Joan Baez is a link to an older world order. I never cared for this stuff at the time but now I can appreciate it's importance in the evolution of pop music.

Too Rye Ay by Dexys Midnight Runners
Feb 21 2025

Good players in this band but the English soul/rnb vibe leaves me cold. On the other hand, Come On Eileen is a great single, even by modern standards!

Maggot Brain by Funkadelic
Feb 24 2025

Great tribute to Hendrix. How come I’ve never heard this before?

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Feb 26 2025

Listening to this album now I was struck by how much it sounded like Weezer. Then I read that 'Weezer is Pavement for people who like Elton John instead of David Bowie', which I can't entirely disagree with. Either way, this album was groundbreaking. And still sounds remarkably fresh after 35 years!?

Rings Around The World by Super Furry Animals
Feb 27 2025

They certainly marshalled every available synth and sampler to create an album rich with musical flourishes. But alas it didn’t really connect with me.

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo

90's angst at its best.
