Exile On Main Street by The Rolling Stones
Mar 10 2025

Rocks Off: I like the psychedelic-sounding break in it. The lyrics are kind of funny even though the song is about heroin use. Rip This Joint: Very fast-paced, not as sure about this one. Ok actually I like the saxophone solo. Shake Your Hips: So this song is actually a cover from blues artist Slim Harpo. I really like this one, the guitar is the highlight. And of course the harmonica. Casino Boogie: This one's an easy listen, pretty basic, but I like the way they came up with the lyrics, by writing phrases on paper and then cutting them up and sticking them together. That's so fun. Tumbling Dice: About a promiscuous gambler, and their only major hit from the album. Lyrically I enjoy how the dice theme is threaded throughout the whole song, I think that's really creative. Sweet Virginia: A country-inspired track. His voice sounds really far away, which I think reflects the hazy, drug-induced atmosphere at the time of recording. Harmonica and guitar are great. Torn and Frayed: Another easy listen, I like the instrumental break in the middle. Enjoyable, not very memorable though. Guitar in outro is satisfying. Sweet Black Angel: The percussion/instrumentation in this one is really interesting and works well with the guitar.

Love Ain’t for Keeping is my favourite track. Very 70s album, some blues elements, psychedelic elements. Easy to listen to.
