Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Mar 25 2025

Solid all the way through, heavy hip hip influence while managing to define a new(ish) genre.

Back At The Chicken Shack by Jimmy Smith
Apr 01 2025

I have no context or other albums to measure this against but I enjoyed it as background and can appreciate the musical skills. Do I feel like I'd have missed out by not listening? Maybe. Maybe not

Arular by M.I.A.

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
Apr 03 2025

It's funny in the movie Airheads they joke that "Lemmy is God" and it's not that far out there. Solid 80s metal album with all of the things we want to forget about the 80s.

Hysteria by Def Leppard
Apr 16 2025

It's a sonic time capsule from the late 80s. Pop metal and all of the excesses. They didn't need a producer but an editor, at 60+ minutes long there is a core of truly great pop songs but like old rock stars, the rest seem bloated and aged. I can see this as a prime example of what Nirvana was railing against.
