Highway to Hell by AC/DC

A quintessential “classic rock” album where you really get what you sign up for. The songs sound kind of repetitive but if you’re looking for the nostalgic “rock” of the era, it’s a good listen, beginning to end. Especially because there aren’t really rock bands with a sound like this anymore in mainstream music. Walk All Over You, Touch Too Much, If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It) were certainly my favs, and of course, Highway To Hell, which will always be a certified banger. For me this is more of what I would call an “activity album” for working out, running, walking, or commuting.

Mothership Connection by Parliament

Wow! Super fun and definitely would have this playing in the house cooking or hanging out as fun background music. Also good if I found this vinyl, good guest music.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder

Tbh the beginning is weird for me. There are obviously some amazing songs but it’s not an album I would listen to from beginning to end and vibe to every single song.

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan

Really have never listened to anything like this before and I loved it. Great album to run beginning to end, but I especially loved the song “Be Anything But Darling Be Mine.” And feel like that could be a single on rotation for me. Listening to this on a rainy morning made me feel like I was transported to a jazz club and treated to the best show of my life.

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin

This is actually not my fav of the zep albums but still enjoy it. I liked reading about the subtle turn into folk music and use of the mandolin. Seems apt for the early 70s.

Hard Again by Muddy Waters

Historically have not listened to this genre or era, but I absolutely loved this album! I especially loved I Want To Be Loved #2. I think it’s especially good as a beginning-to-end, no-skip album, rather than spinning a single over and over again. 10/10 will listen again!

It’s giving manifesto and not in a good way. It’s for some people I’m sure, just not me! I essentially listened to this against my will, 0/10 never would again. I don’t even think I would ironically acknowledge I ever did this.

A Walk Across The Rooftops by The Blue Nile
Apr 11 2025

Peak 80s, which isn’t my favorite genre, but definitely listenable for me. Ultimately enjoyable but I don’t think I would revisit it out of love over and over. I might give Hats a try from curiosity more than anything, I see this as an influence in some of the nostalgic pop rock as the 00s. Reminded me very much of the Killers and even the Postal Service. The bass line in A Walk Across Rooftops rocked, and the lead singer has a great voice. I find the synths discordant thing of the 80s generally to be kind of cheesy but this is a moment

I thought it was going to be cheesy dad music, and.. if you were born in the 80s/90s it absolutely is, but I was pleasantly surprised by Foreplay / Long Time. The bassline is pretty sick and honestly I think this song is ahead of its time! This is a really fun album and I would absolutely listen to it again. It has a more mainstream, palatable, danceable quality that sets it apart from some of the other 70s rock at the time. I could see why it blew up, but maybe didn’t stand the test of time AS much getting lost in the shuffle of the genre

Nilsson Schmilsson by Harry Nilsson
Apr 23 2025

I honestly loved the range of this album from softer rock ballads to vibey blues. Gotta Get Up is incredibly catchy and unique, honestly think that song is genius. The Moonbeam Song sounds like a compilation of late 60s/early 70s folk in a generic mashup that somehow still manages to be boring. So, that was a skip to me. Coconut is problematic and weird but iconic I guess. Just adds kinda to the bizarre-o range on this album. This album had a few saves for me but it wasn’t a no-skip. I enjoyed it!
