good, country vibes. this would go hard on a long road trip through the tennessee mountains. the long, vibey guitar solos are pretty chill, but can get repetitive. The songs are pretty similar too, so i wouldn’t think i would put this on in my daily life that much.
fav song: round & round
the songs go back and forth from being pop hits to being very experimental (mostly in a good way, though). i can vibe with all the songs, though.
fav song: synchronicity II
chill. would play it around a campfire at 3am, or on a night drive home. not sure when else, though
very nice album. i was very impressed with the production and the range of sounds. this album has a combination of catchy pop melodies, powerful lyrics, and beautiful vocals throughout.
fav song: the first taste
not my cup of tea. can’t really find much to praise. it probably sounded sick in 1978 but now it sounds like a baby using its first synthesizer.
fav track: the model
no misses. lots of different styles between the different songs. i like how the latter half of the album is chilled out compared to former. cool guitar solos, but the album isn’t super cohesive and the lyrics can be a bit meh at times.
fav track: strange world
took a bit, but it grew on me. maybe i was taking it too seriously at first, but eventually tracks like bob dylan's 115th dream and others just made me realize that while it doesn't tear at my heartstrings, it's a good sound + unique storytelling. however, a bit repetitive.
safe to say this is outside of my usual comfort zone. it felt like the vocals were doing jazz improvization over the band. i liked it, but some tracks felt so full and unique while other tracks - mainly the beginning ones - can feel really empty.
fav track: hamady boiro
i didn’t dislike it as much as i thought i would, but it’s not quite a 3. every time i thought it was something more than countryslop, it would throw in a lyric about “beer”, “jesus,” or “hate muh wife” to prove me wrong. every track is a bit repetitive too tho.
