It took some time at first to get into it as I'm not a Southern Hip-Hop connoisseur at all, but it was a great experience for sure. There are definitely some hits that I'll listen more often now!
Tommy has been on my to-be-played list a long time for now and I love that this app brings me to just do that. The story is what makes this album feel so special to me and of course the way it unfolds in the course of listening to album. I love just losing track of time while listening to it, feeling for Tommy and what he had to go through, and knowing how many later albums we love were inspired by this masterpiece. The story of Tommy seems like a tragic version what people imagine what the 1960s were like when they weren't born to live in this time, but no matter what it feels like there are more than just a couple Tommys out there.
A timeless classic, that always brings me joy to listen to. I cannot tell which Pink Floyd album fullfills me the most, but second to "Animals" this is probably on the top.
It's interesting to see what the obvious classic "California Dreamin'" is surrounded with on this album to make it a whole. It is corny, almost too "in-love", but just gives me as a listener good feelings about the future, even though this one is "way" from the past.
This album felt like listening to the soundtrack of an experimental indie movie, but not the good kind. Or waiting way too long on the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas or IV loading screen. None of the samples were interesting and the whole atmosphere felt off.
That's quite a funky rap album for commenting so much about racial discrimination, police violence, and the media portrayal of Ice Cube himself. When I listened to N.W.A and Ice Cube I somehow always got back to reading about the 1992 LA Riots and it's nerve-wracking to think about the issues that ended up in this happening. All in all, I'm not that much into rap anymore, but if I get into the mood again, Ice Cube is definitely on the list of artists I go back to.
I've had Minor Threat on my list for a while and also listened to the first two... well remarkably short EPs before this one came out. But what do you want from a band, which really wants to make some in-your-face punk rock. In my opinion, this album had some great energy and I would have loved to see them live, but now it has to do as an album on a more angry, angsty day at work to just let go off some steam. Will keep this in my collection.
