Off The Wall
Michael Jackson
Half the album is fantastic and the other half is a little stale. The background beats are repetitive and some songs drag on too long. Michael Jackson’s voice and adlibs carries the album and makes for great music while jammin in the shower. 7.5/10

Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
The Flaming Lips
A trippy experience from start to finish. The album is coherent throughout and everything feels intentional. Every song feels unique and nothing feel’s overdone. Plenty of songs that I saved and will listen to in the future. 9/10

Legalize It
Peter Tosh
Not a single song worth skipping on this album. Haven’t listened to much reggae music but definitely makes me want to listen to more like this. Saved more than half the album and plan to listen to it more, especially “till your well runs dry”. This was ahead of its time, 10/10.

Garbage
Garbage
Overall, the album was fine. Definitely a great album for young teens in the 90s, but for a 24 year old man in 2025 it did not resonate with me. Only happy when it rains was probably the better song on the album. 5/10, didn’t love it and didn’t hate it.

Ellington at Newport
Duke Ellington
I’m sure Duke Ellington paved the way for jazz music. However, this “album” is half of them speaking and the other half is live performances where I can’t hear any other instruments other than this🎺
If it was 1950 and I had some ❄️ with a broad on my shoulder drinking an old fashioned, this would be a 10/10. Instead it’s a 2/10 especially for it staring with the star spangled banner.

Moving Pictures
Rush
Overall a great album. A great balance of instrumental and vocal, making each song feel like a fresh experience. Rush gives me nostalgia from rock band and guitar hero, and it’s great to finally listen to the whole album. 10/10 simple and sweet

No Other
Gene Clark
This album is a great example of chill, psychedelic rock that’s perfect to relax to. They don’t have a huge following but I believe they deserve it and are underrated. I’ve listened to this album twice now and I’ll definitely listen more in the future 5/5.

The Predator
Ice Cube
Definitely an album that deserves a second listen to really appreciate what Ice Cube is cookin up. His political statement on police brutality and its effect on the black community is prominent throughout. His instrumentals are simple but effective, creating a flow very similar to Geto Boys. Ice Cube shines being an in your face rapper, making sure he’s heard through the whole album.
Song wise, every song is a banger. It was a good day is simply the top song on the album, with it being the only chill song to boot.
Overall, 9/10 album and will definitely listen again when I get pulled over by the police.

Hotel California
Eagles
As overplayed as Eagles are, there was plenty on this album I hadn’t heard before that were a nice surprise. My favorite being “Try and love again.” 90% of this album is great for any occasion. Album is a solid 8/10

The Stone Roses
The Stone Roses
This album is just a solid 6/10. The downside is that all the songs are incredibly similar and don’t really take too many risk. I enjoy that it reminds me of The Cure but it also has that boring Beatles vibe where the songs sound the same. For a first album, I feel like you need to try and make your own sound and they failed to do so.

Talking Book
Stevie Wonder
This is a great album. Love the mixture between Stevie Wonder’s vocals and the funky instrumentals. Definitely got me interested in listening to more of his music with the expectation that it’ll be close to this album in style. 10/10

Only By The Night
Kings of Leon
Start and end of the album is great. The middle of the album starting with 17 was not great. If the album finished like it started, would be a top 10 album. 4/5

Hearts And Bones
Paul Simon
This is not an album I’d have on repeat, but there are some good songs that I enjoyed. Good mixture of funky tunes and good singing by Paul Simon. My favorite was think too much(b). 8/10

Dare!
The Human League
I’m a sucker for synth-pop so this was up my alley for me. Perfect example of an oldie but a goodie album, giving me the vibe of driving in Vice City again with 80s music blaring. Weakest song being I Am The Law and my favorite being The Sound of The Crowd(very nice upbeat tempo). Will be listening again when I need something for a late night drive. 5/5

Figure 8
Elliott Smith
I can see the appeal for this album. Personally it felt repetitive and like generic sad boy music. Nothing I’d listen to in rotation, 2/5

The Renaissance
Q-Tip
I thought it was a great hip hop album overall. Great songs like Wefight/Welove and life is better were stand outs to me. His flow is a little repetitive but has that 90s hip hop style that is enjoyable for a casual listen. 9/10

The Bends
Radiohead
Radiohead doing what Radiohead does. This is a great album that is a good introduction piece for any new listener. The instrumental along with Thom Yorke’s singing brings out the emotions I want to feel on my commute to and from work. There’s not a single bad song on this album (nice dreams being the weakest but still holding up.)
My Iron Lung has my favorite instrumental, with the guitar in the song giving the song such an edge.
My favorite song vocally is Fake Plastic Trees. The lyrics discuss how both parties in a relationship want to be more than who they are, leaving each other discontent with themself. Song hits the feels and that beautiful singing voice feels soothing yet remorseful.
Street Spirit is such a great way to end the album off, being an emotional masterpiece that makes feel like I’m floating away. I could give a reason why I like every song on this album but I want to go to bed. 100/10
And ok computer and In Rainbows are also fantastic. They need no comparison as they’re all great.

The Grand Tour
George Jones
I like older country, and the album started strong. I feel like it fizzled out though and get weaker has the album went on. 6/10

Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols
Sex Pistols
Album was just alright in my opinion. Nothing I’d want to listen to again, but I can understand how it paved the way for other musicians to grow from. 4/10
