1999 by Prince
Apr 29 2025

1999 by Prince (1982) was super funky and made me want to dance, especially the title track, but honestly, the album just wasn’t for me. A lot of the songs like “Little Red Corvette,” “Delirious,” “Let’s Pretend We’re Married,” and “Automatic” felt pretty meh, and the more electronic tracks like “D.M.S.R” and “Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)” didn’t really vibe with me either (though I did like the bass on “D.M.S.R”). “Free” was the first song I really loved — it had gorgeous vocals and instrumentals that actually sounded like the Prince I expected. “Lady Cab Driver” was funky but not my thing, “All the Critics Love U in New York” was a no, and “International Lover” was kind of nice but still didn’t win me over. Overall, the album bored me and my mind kept wandering, even though the funky beats made me want to move sometimes. I’d give it a 4/10.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Apr 30 2025

Heaven or Las Vegas felt super dreamy and floaty, but most of it didn’t really catch my attention — especially the first few songs, which just kind of passed me by. I liked parts of it, like the instrumental on the title track and “Fifty-Fifty Clown” had a nice vibe, but overall it’s not really my style. It wasn’t bad to have in the background, but I wouldn’t go back to it. Just didn’t click with me. 4/10
