Willie NelsonI said on my last review how I wasnβt a huge fan of WN and was I happy to get through that album, clicked submit, and then immediately got another boring Willie Nelson album.

Long time favorite. My intro to Kendrick. Peak Kendrick. Best album behind MAAD city. Expert story teller, which is what makes him the greatest rapper. He told his core story in this album. All the other albums are side stories.
Songs to play driving down a two lane road in the desert at night. Preferably in a convertible.
If this 1980 album were released today, it would be considered innovative and ahead of its time. When the album hits, itβs excellent. Too much filler in between the hits for it to be 4 stars. Album is largely carried by Once in A Lifetime.
First album of the generator Iβve never heard of before. Strong opening song which I love in any album. Tone of her melodies matches the tone of the music behind it beautifully. Great mix of singer/songwriter, traditional rock, and some Grateful Dead sounding jams.
Regarded as maybe the greatest singer of all time. This album makes that almost impossible to argue.
The Allman Brothers were the godfathers of southern rock but Lynyrd Skynyrd made it cool. Maybe one of the greatest debut album of any band of all time. Nearly every song on the album is still widely played today. In a time when being a southerner was maybe losing part of its meaning, these guys helped redefine the culture.
Apparently these guys were the genesis for shoegaze. They sound like if Lou Reed sang for the Clash. Like a lot of shoegaze bands, though, they have trouble distinguishing their sound from one song to the next and the entire album sounds like one continuous tone and beat and rhythm. Decent lyrics.
Not really a huge WN fan.
