1001 Albums Summary

Always thought the band were massively overrated, and after tracks wondered if I was just hater. However, for me the quality of the album quickly dips after "All These Things We've Done" and rarely recovers aside from a few bright spots within otherwise bland tracks. 2.5 from me Clive.

Thank god this is only 30 minutes long. Musically some of the psychedelic elements are cool but main Gott the lyrics are either boring as shit or depressing af.

Can appreciate why others might like it, and I recognise the influence it’s had on music that’s come since, but it wasn’t a particularly enjoyable listen as an album and had me wanting to skip tracks a few times.

A bit slow to get going but quite enjoyable, if a bit forgettable overall. "Ego Tripping at the Gates of Hell" is the standout track for me. The music's psychedelia is what really keeps it interesting through the rest of the album but it doesn't quite reach the heights of better albums with a similar sound.

It's Elvis, so it's exactly what you expect. Not my cup of tea but it's fine, an easy listen with a couple of bangers coming in the shape of Suspicious Minds and In The Ghetto (although Cartman sings it better). Would be a 2-star album if not for those two tracks.

Surpassed by some of their later work but still a no-skip classic.

Has its high points but I also wanted it to be over before the end of Jesus Of Suburbia, which is only the second song.

True classic West Coast album that perfects the G-Funk sound and doesn't miss a beat, even including the skits.

Couldn't wait for it to be over, yet it felt like it never got going.

It was okay but very forgettable.

Pretty cool mix of different genres, funky indie psychedelic vibes with a dash of hip-hop. Better than expected but not one I'm likely to revisit aside from a few songs.

First Jazz album. Was alright for some background music during work but not much else. Made me long for an opium den.

Might be okay on shrooms but otherwise I never want to hear it again.
