lovely, I really like "Early Morning Breeze"
it was dated but FUN which i needed yesterday
Solid album, smoothly achieves what it has to do. Not sure if I’d listen on repeat but was a pleasant experience. Maybe a little too inoffensive but it checks out.
Well, a classic for sure. I was listening to it religiously 4-5 years ago for a typographical Miles Davis poster design I was working on. So I'm here fully biased :) This album was my "proper" introduction to jazz, apart from the usual coffee shop jazz and a couple of songs I randomly added to my playlist out of curiosity. It’s a classic, and I genuinely enjoy it. Every note hits the right spot. Definitely a good introduction to jazz as a genre. However, I can also see that we talk way too much about Kind of Blue, while there are probably so many other great jazz albums out there that don’t get as much attention. There’s definitely a bias that comes from familiarity. Also, I usually overlooked the songs apart from "So What" and "Freddie Freeloader" in my past listenings, but this re-listen after a while helped me re-discover "All Blues" and I enjoyed it, especially the intro: doo doo-doo DOO doo doo-doo DOO doo doo-doo DOO
Groovy makin u shake ur head along the rhythm. I actually like to listen to some Blues songs every now and then but listening to a whole Blues album in one sitting seriously makes you think they all sound quite similar which bored me a little bit. Perhaps there are more nuance to each song that I can’t comprehend as a casual music fan. It was nice but no song really stood out to me in particular, even if I know they are classics. It is like I can really vibe with it when it is on but after its complete I totally forget about it. This balances its rank into the middle for me. 5/10 —> 2,5/5 —> Due to respect I am giving 3 instead of 2.
Because I am a Get Back (Naked Version) I gotta admit that I dont’t like Phil Spector for couple of reasons. However, Imagine is one of the better albums created by John at his solo career. There are a number of iconic tracks such as Imagine, Jealous Guy, Gimme Some Truth and How Do You Sleep? (Yes the McCartney diss track :p) I recognize that the lyricism in this time cannot really hide Lennon’s problematic side, but I still prefer not to rank the album solely thinking about Lennon’s problematic personal life issues. If I would compare RAM by McCartney and Imagine by John Lennon, I think I would prefer giving RAM full points instead of Imagine since it is by far the better album from that era of post-Beatles. I quite often listen to RAM as a whole album but I usually listen to songs from Imagine separately. RAM gives more of an great album experience than Imagine imo. (I hope RAM will come up later down the line in the project :)) Therefore 4 it is. I am really closer to 3 too, but the first time I re-listened the album for the project I actually enjoyed it a lot since it has been a while. So for the all memories I had in the past of the album and my crazy Beatles fan are I have to give it a 4 :) P.S: I think I have to admit Imagine as a song is a little too overrated and has some questionable parts.
I got into it pretty quickly with that strong start; however, I lost interest just as quickly. Not because rest of the songs sucked, but because I am not as into the music I think compared to other genres. Overall it was a pleasant experience though. I can see myself revisiting it and perhaps ranking it higher in future.
My first 5 point go to Brazil! :) Note to myself: Try drawing along this album
I’ve got recommended this album the day Brian Wilson has passed away. Rest In Piece I think I prefer the stereo versions to the mono ones. For some reason mono version overwhelms me. If I am not in the right mood sometimes the layering in this album gets a little too much. If I am in the right mood though, I definitely enjoy the album a lot.
First time hearing. It was fun.
