Those crunchy guitar tones! I mean, I like this record - it’s got all the things I look for with Neil Young’s songwriting. He crafts a mean tune, what can I say. Down by the River’s probably my fave track. Some of the tunes ramble on a bit, which isn’t the vibe I’m after today… 6/10

Some real catchy elements in this record, and I find the production interesting. Found it hard to maintain interest in it the entire way through however.

Was going to give three stars but listening to this album was a bit of a non-event for me. Plus some of the songs on it just give me the ick. Whilst the production isn’t terrible and some of the guitar tones are pleasant, there is nothing that grabs me about the songwriting really.

This album stirred up a storm of controversy in its wake and it flipped the board on what folk music could be, on what an artist could do and say. I’m all for it. I love it!
