Didn't like at first, not usually my vibe. Listened to while working/driving. Ended up not minding it -- not a favorite, though. Chill vibes, liked some of the jammy bits. Her voice is interesting, got tired of it after a while but fits the album. Emmylou Harris has done work with Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton, seems to be a classic lady I should probably be slightly cultured on.
Listening casually (work day), super intriguing vibes across the album. Retro cali cowboy fr, very 2000s. Lots of songs I personally may never return to, but the vibes are fun, don't regret listening through it a few times. Beck is so creative. Don't think I would ever have FOMO of a live performance of this album based off of listening. Personally love Earthquake Weather; and like E-Pro, Que' Onda Guero, Girl, and Go It Alone (feel like essential-to-know songs).
Super well composed, I can see the art to it for staging "downtempo" music in the late 90s. Maybe it's just the space I'm in today, but it makes me personally want to bang my head on my desk? Weirdly gives me a headache? Listened twice while ~working~, does nothing for me, don't have the patience to return to it.
Really interesting, a few familiar sounding songs (feels like drama/action movie soundtrack picks). Overall super cool sounds, chill working music. Feels slightly experimental. Not a fave, but glad to have experienced it and know who provides such a familiar movie genre
Was really excited to dive into icon Prince (never have before)! Not entirely my vibe, but happy I listened through his top album. I liked a few songs, but they're not ones I could see myself going out of the way for moving forward. Glad to know more of his discography now beyond Purple Rain lol
Genuinely love this album :') First time really even diving into Bob Dylan and I'm so glad this album was one of the first generated for me. It is such a fulfilling sound, calming but emotional, and his voice is perfect to me. Haven't seen the new Timothee movie yet but now I might invest my time there, too. Feels like a soundtrack to life. Officially in love with a new thing
Not the biggest fan of this one as it doesn't do much for me. Cool that this was a shifting album for the "post-punk" genre i guess. The fact that one of the guys said "I can't say this is an enjoyable album. Maybe it's just a stupid bit of rubbish. But you won't know unless you find out" tells me it was created as "rubbish" but they were able to sell it like candy to a kid lol
Grew on me after a few listens over a few days. Most songs truly sound the same, but I don't mind the intention that it has across songs (mainly after listening to Pink Flag by Wire -- random rubbish). No songs that truly stick with me, I've heard Gary Gilmore's Eyes before (still not a fave), but cool to know of and throw in the mix occasionally
I liked listening to Neil Young, didn't recognize any of the songs but I've got a few new go tos for chill listening days! Didn't care much for the second half of the album, but hoping to have another neil young album to explore in the future
not my fave, but not a miserable listen lol. Got some new chill jammy songs from it
pretty enjoyable classic. Knew a handful of songs, found a few new additions, the rest just feel like filler songs in my life
medieval folktale vibes fr, love season of the witch and sunshine superman, and don't mind bert's blues. Otherwise don't care for the rest of the album. feels like a referenceable one to know of tho, glad to know Donovan officially
i liked some songs off this one, jeff beck rocky blues vibes are nice
Not my favorite, but an interesting listen. Can definitely hear NOLA and the melting pot of cultures present
lowkey theater kid vibes, not my fav at all but i could see like 2 growing on me: Another Friday Night and Oh, California!
life is weirddd... coincidentally watched 500 days of summer within days of this assignment and noticed the 2 Joy Division album references, Joseph Gordon Levitt wore tshirts with this album and Love Will Tear Us Apart, crazyyy
Album was fine tho, i liked Disorder best but it set my hopes higher for the rest of the album. Shadowplay and Interzone were okay, but I liked and recognized more from the overall discography rather than this album alone. Sounds like it could be from this decade tho, so it's cool to know it's from 79
hell yeah
not bad but wont remember or revisit
first track is obviously a hit, the rest was cool to listen through, not a TOP album at all but really loved it sonically. Coincidentally, just saw today that Sade ("shar-DAY") was just entered into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
could be good, the music is sonically funky and bluesy but it's more just background music that's more annoying that it's such a long song, and then you realize it's all about sex and then you're annoyed you're giving it so much of a chance
feeling cultured, i like this one
hot rats indeed! funky rats? little jazzy, bluesy, poppy rats even. so '69 of the rats. real deal experimental jam band from the hippy era with SO MANY instrumentals throughout. liked it, brassy n jammy, gives punky wes anderson vibes? indie alty movie soundtrack? but probs won't revisit the ~10 minute songs much, but fun listen, unless it's the songs that give too much hotel lobby/elevator music vibes
