Apocalypse 91… The Enemy Strikes Black
Public Enemy
Raw, straightforward and aggressive in terms of both lyrical content and delivery. A letter to the New York Post is probably the most memorable track for me on first listen. It's straight to the point and incisive; showcasing the energy that is one of the many highlights of this album. Nighttrain is another favorite track of mine for similar reasons. I like the various influences that weave in and out of each track--especially those moments of funk, since g-funk is my preferred style of hiphop. There is also a palpable futuristic vibe which I think works well with this particular production. The track with Anthrax was a better blend of styles than I thought it would be. Overall I had a lot of fun with this album and I really appreciate the clear political message.

I love funk so this is the perfect album for me. Silky smooth woth these beautiful orchestral moments which creates a mood of sudden grandiosity. I felt transported to a different (and more sublime) world while listening to this album. Weaving in and out of a delicate, intricate daydream--it reminds me of slowly drifting off during a sunset. Pure bliss. Little Child Runnin' Wild and Freddie's Dead are probably my favorite tracks but I loved them all.

Tapestry
Carole King
I was hit with a bit of nostalgia while listening, both because there are a few songs on here that I have heard several times growing up but also because of how ethereal this album feels. It is otherwordly, melancholic, and soothing. The piano has a strong presence throughout many of the tracks.

Her voice gives each word such depth, it really adds to the emotional weight of this album. Perfect for a heavy heart, regardless of what it is heavy with.

A Love Supreme
John Coltrane
A masterpiece. All components are perfect but the drums are such a delight to hear. Parts three and four are heavenly.
