Brothers
The Black Keys
This has some classics on it: Ten Cent Pistol, Tighten Up, Everlasting Light, Sinister Kid. It's a pretty enjoyable listen when you don't have someone in your ear telling you it's Ford truck commercial music.
"Mashed potatoes in cellophane/I see my life going down the drain." What a line. This man is truly distraught by his subpar potato product. Song's still kind of a banger, though, like most of the other stuff on here.

I Should Coco
Supergrass
Great energy. Cool guitar tones. Catchy enough to be fun to listen to but punchy and aggressive enough to not lose its punk edge.
Ohhh these are the guys Travie McCoy interpolated... I understand why, Alright is a good song.
I can't tell if this is ahead of its time, a throwback, or exactly where it should be in the timeline. Probably a mix of all 3.
Strange Ones is a lowlight, but still not terrible. "Every f****r needs a home" 🤔
Album falls off a bit once it gets softer, which is a bummer since it starts out so good. It also starts to incorporate some weird, high pitch, borderline South Park-y sounding background voices and spoken bits, which are just goofy and don't enhance the experience in any way.
Sofa of my Lethargy picks it back up a bit in both interest and volume... And then lingers around for 2-3 minutes longer than it really needed to. Close out song is kind of cheesy.

The Suburbs
Arcade Fire
This wasn't the Arcade Fire album I expected on this list, which means I have to actually listen to it all the way through now.
I've made it to Half Light I and so far I'd say there aren't any bad songs in this album. Not life-changing by any means, but still good music.
In Half Light II, the singer has a bit of a Springsteen Americana sound to his voice, which I like.
There are more power chords in this album than I was expecting, especially in songs like Month of May.
The choppy piano changing to a bass line in We Used to Wait is cool.
He sounds so melancholy about the sprawl. Maybe he shouldn't drive through there. The woman doesn't seem as upset about it, though.

Music in Exile
Songhoy Blues
West African electric blues rock? Heck yeah! This grooves pretty hard right off the bat. I have no idea what they're saying, but that doesn't really matter.
It does get a little samey after awhile, but it's still good even with this in mind.

To Pimp A Butterfly
Kendrick Lamar
This album is sooo good. Stoked to listen to it again. This is the first 5 on this journey, and very deservedly so.The lyrics, flows, beats, themes, and how everything connects together - it's all incredible.
It's all just as good as I remember it, if not even better. 10 years later and this is still a masterpiece.

Modern Sounds in Country and Western Music
Ray Charles
I don't know a single Ray Charles song. I'm sure I've heard one before, but I couldn't name one or identify his voice. This will be a good exposure to that, although I also didn't realize he made country music? Either this album is out of left field or I just know nothing about this guy.

Blonde On Blonde
Bob Dylan
I don't understand why people like Bob Dylan. Boring music, terrible so-called singing, corny writing at times. I don't even think this has the music people know him for on it.

A Girl Called Dusty
Dusty Springfield
A big complaint in modern music is that it's all derivative, all spawning from something that's been done before. This project has shown me that this isn't a new problem.

Dummy
Portishead
For once an album that actually is unique enough to make it onto this list. The first one on here that I own on vinyl, and the 2nd five.

Feels very proto-NIN. Kind of cool, felt like a worthwhile listen.

The Birthday Party
Holy crap, this sucks. Is this on the list to give you the experience of listening to garbage? Like, "you must listen to this awful piece of crap in order to appreciate better music." I can't imagine listening to this for fun.
This is Nick Cave?!?! I see why he moved on from whatever this is supposed to be.
I went to RYM to check the original tracklist to ensure I could turn this tripe off as soon as possible. So no, I will not be listening to another version of this godawful Dead Joe song.
I'm not kidding when I say IceJJFish makes better music than this. You can at least laugh at that. This is completely unlistenable noise with no redeeming qualities. The best part of this album was when I was doing the dishes and the water was running so I couldn't hear it. I would rather listen to 47 minutes of running water than this nonsense.
Several Sins is ok. It's still not good, but better than the rest of the album so far... And we're right back into the trash with the aptly named Big Jesus Trash Can because Jesus would want you to throw this in the biggest trash can you could find so it could be buried by less repulsive trash. Im surprised Earth wasn't flooded again as punishment for humanity creating this so-called art.

Top 5 of all time album. RIP Ozzy. You were weird, but you were also an important part of making this masterpiece.

Pink Floyd
This is the greatest album of all time. No debate. I need to buy the vinyl and give this another spin.
