Unhalfbricking
Fairport Convention
Honestly the best songs are the ones that either Sandy or Richard wrote as opposed to the ones taken from The Basement Tapes sessions. Overall decent Traditional British Folk music but not something I would come back to regularly.
1. WHO KNOWS WHERE THE TIME GOES
2. A SAILOR’S LIFE
3. GENESIS HALL
4. AUTOPSY
5. PERCY’S SONG
6. SI TU DOIS PARTIR
7. MILLION DOLLAR BASH
8. CAJUN WOMAN

Dirt
Alice In Chains
Probably the 2nd best grunge album to be made. A lot is discussed about Layne’s powerful vocals (rightfully so) but what is extremely underrated is Jerry’s guitar playing throughout this album. Definitely made the correct single choices as they’re the best songs on the album. The first half of this is phenomenal and closes with their best ever song. Couldn’t recommend it more.
1. WOULD?
2. THEM BONES
3. DOWN IN A HOLE
4. ROOSTER
5. RAIN WHEN I DIE
6. DAM THAT RIVER
7. ANGRY CHAIR

Exile On Main Street
The Rolling Stones
One of the few classic albums in Rolling Stones’ collection. This is a mammoth when comparing to their other stuff but it’s still worth it. Over an hour of different genres (rock, country, blues etc) yet still consistent. Maybe couldn’t been trimmed a little but still a classic.
1. ROCKS OFF
2. TUMBLING DICE
3. SHINE A LIGHT
4. SWEET VIRGINIA
5. LET IT LOOSE

Third
Portishead
Portishead’s discography is perfect. This album is no exception, no bad song at all. This is especially impressive as it came over 10 years after their last album. This feels like a departure from their previous trip hop work but it’s refreshing.
1. THE RIP
2. MACHINE GUN
3. WE CARRY ON
4. SILENCE
5. THREADS
6. MAGIC DOORS
7. HUNTER
8. SMALL
9. PLASTIC

Lust For Life
Iggy Pop
This album had more control by Iggy Pop but still collaborated heavily with David Bowie. You have the big hits, which are the highlight of the album, but the rest of the album sounds more like his earlier work with The Stooges. The album is amazing and worth a try.
1. THE PASSENGER
2. LUST FOR LIFE
3. SOME WEIRD SIN
4. TONIGHT
5. NEIGHBOURHOOD THREAT
6. SUCCESS
7. FALL IN LOVE WITH ME
8. SIXTEEN

Arrival
ABBA
Obviously Dancing Queen is an instant classic but the other singles on this album do not come near to that song and are actually some of their weakest singles of the 70s. Im also not a fan of the album tracks. Overall an album i didn't enjoy.
1. DANCING QUEEN

Out Of The Blue
Electric Light Orchestra
A very solid pop album of its time. It’s the first time vocoder’s were used regularly but it compliments the vocals well. It’s impressive that this entire album was written in the space of a few weeks. Only thing is that it’s slightly too long.
1. MR. BLUE SKY
2. TURN TO STONE
3. SWEET TALKIN’ WOMAN
4. BIG WHEELS
5. IT’S OVER
6. SWEET IS THE NIGHT

Debut
Björk
Pretty much everything from Bjork in the 90s was perfect. Her debut album would’ve been a shock to fans of The Sugacubes but a welcoming one. Although popular in Pop, it’s very artsy and even house music at several points. A fantastic start.
1. VENUS AS A BOY
2. HUMAN BEHAVIOUR
3. CRYING
4. BIG TIME SENSUALITY
5. COME TO ME
6. LIKE SOMEONE IN LOVE
7. ONE DAY
8. VIOLENTLY HAPPY

10. THE ANCHOR SONG
11. AEROPLANE

This Is Hardcore
Pulp
A really solid album by the band, even if it was the final nail in the coffin for Britpop. A lot darker than their previous albums, probably a reflection of how the band were feeling at the time. Just slightly too long and the single choices for this album were poor.
1. THIS IS HARDCORE
2. THE FEAR
3. HELP THE AGED
4. SYLVIA
5. DISHES
6. I’M A MAN
7. A LITTLE SOUL
8. THE DAY AFTER THE REVOLUTION
9. GLORY DAYS
10. TV MOVIE
11. PARTY HARD
12. SEDUCTIVE BARRY

Another Green World
Brian Eno
Phenomenal album. Probably the most important in Eno’s career as it’s the transitional point between his glam era and his ambient pieces. Both contrast extremely well and makes this an enjoyable listen all the way through

3. GOLDEN HOURS
4. EVERYTHING MERGES WITH THE NIGHT

The Low End Theory
A Tribe Called Quest
Probably the peak for neo-soul rap. A Tribe Called Quest have several 5 star albums in their discography and here is where they have their best sampling and production. Also refreshing to here more Phife Dawg across here.

Brutal Youth
Elvis Costello
Im honestly unsure how this album made it on a list like this. Not an awful album but probably one of the weakest on this whole list. I would say the singles were the correct choices but Costello really can’t do slow songs.

2. SULKY GIRL
3. KINDER MURDER
4. YOU TRIPPED AT EVERY STEP
5. LONDON’S BRILLIANT PARADE

Violator
Depeche Mode
Although some excellent albums came before this one, this felt like a massive peak in their career. Half of the album I would consider to be timeless, especially Enjoy the Silence which is one of the best songs ever. Enjoyable listen throughout, overall excellent

2. POLICY OF TRUTH
3. PERSONAL JESUS
4. WORLD IN MY EYES
5. HALO
6. CLEAN
7. SWEETEST PERFECTION
