1001 Albums (Once A Day) - (1/1001) Rating 1 album a day from this random book called 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die by Robert Dimery where a bunch of so called music connoisseurs decide the essential records that everyone must hear Ohhh you think you're SOO smart you think YOU know EVERYTHING about music Huh??? OK pal we'll see come on lets see. Honestly? Not as inconsistent as people make it out to be. There are three songs on here that I consider to be amazing songs. Those three tracks are Death on Two Legs, The Prophet's Song, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Death on Two Legs is punchy, energetic, instrumentally engaging, and catchy. Really a top notch intro. Sets the tone well. The harmonies on The Prophet's Song are gorgeous. The song progresses really nicely and I love how the harmony suddenly stops and the instrumental kicks in it tickles my brain nicely. But Bohemian Rhapsody is (of course) their magnum opus track. Absolute banger. Fantastic riffs, such great vocals from Mercury and the build-up is awesome as well. The rest of the album is consistent within their own realm, but never reach quite as high as the top 3 managed to. Maybe I'm just a sucker for these cliche pop rock tracks but honestly they're done really well for the most part. Some of the lyricism is undoubtedly dated like 'I'm in Love with My Car' (seriously man) and on that end the cliche aspect definitely doesn't work for me but honestly as a whole this album flows really nicely and gives me hope for the rest of this challenge. Admittedly I'm not as in tune with this era of music as I'd like to be so maybe this challenge will change that, and maybe I'll get tired of the cliches presented on this album but as of now, I'd say it's pretty high on the awesome scale. ballsmcgee out 😛🤟🤟🤟 Favs: Death on Two Legs, The Prophet's Song, Bohemian Rhapsody
